Let's Fix Stamina for Future Ladders

Which also dumbs down the mechanic, and makes the Barb skill even more worthless, and the itemization mods based around stamina worthless. It’s a silly band-aid that is fine for a mod or indie game. If you are going to fix the problem, fix it at it’s core. However, I believe fixing this issue would require more work than it is worth.

yah imagine doing a job half butt, or slapping on a bandaid like that pod dev did.

do it, and do it right. measure once, cut once.

Doesn’t require a lot of work to

  • just get the value of remaining stamina

  • divide it by (clvl/10)

  • take that value and apply it as increased physical damage to attacks

Quite simple

Bonus:

  • Also remove stamina from vitality bonus and slap it on str& dext

  • rework leap attack to deal damage based on remaining stamina as well

No thanks. Sounds great for a mod though. Stamina is intended as a mechanic to control the flow of speed which you can move through danger with risk vs reward factor as your defense drops to zero, and is a factor in weight based equipment choices; not as a mechanic to increase damage based on janky calculations.

That’s the most insane pretend logic I’ve ever heard. “It’s too much work so they shouldn’t do it; and a band aid that would fix it isn’t good enough so nothing should be done at all”.

On your list of priorities, where would removing or band-aid fixing stamina fall:
Improve Lobbies
Fix Game List
Update Game List with search
Additional Character slots
Fix Bugs
Improve Stash Space
etc etc etc

There are other things, more important to do, than worrying about a mechanic that most people outgrow after a couple dozen of levels. I’ve been agreeable to much. I tried to be amendable to personal loot and support the version you yourself support, even if it wasn’t the one I would advocate for; until some decided to get offended over my abbreviation of Magic Finders. I have recently met Dark Jedi half-way on a topic over removing gem requirement for cubing, stating I would rather have the other option he listed; a stack tab. I have agreed immensely with balancing pre-2.4, quick cast, etc.

However, you can’t fix what isn’t broken, as posted above. Stamina is an ingrained mechanic in D2, touching many aspects of the game. Would I be sad to see it go? No. However, I’d rather see higher priority things than spend the time and effort necessary to change skills, item mods, etc to remove this mechanic.
