At some point in the future, it would be really cool if path of the warlock had access to legacy graphics. I really like playing with the old graphics so it’s a shame that it is not available with all the new content/quality of life features that you guys added.
obviously the legacy team has very limited resource, I would like them focus on balancing the classes and new content if possible.
30 US$ old graphic pack for Rotw 2.0 dlc.
Nobody is going to go back and make legacy graphics for the warlock the new items and the heralds
heralds would be actually quite easy it’s just an overlay over plain monster’s head and overlays are only a graphical effect rhather than a sprite and they are both 3D and 2D in legacy graphics, othr than that Heralds have a set of non standard auras that are applied to them, nothing that couldn’t be done.. though creating all the warlock class sprites and new item sprites and animations for all of those is like making 1/7th of the game from scratch.. there’s no way blizz is going to do this just for a bunch of people who play on potaos.. if for some reason you don’t have a decent PC to enjoy the game on new graphics ten do as i did recently and buy a decommisioned corporation laptop. preferably with intel 1185G7 CPU.. if OP already have DDR4 laptop RAM sitting in his old one similarily to a decent size m.2 drive, he could simply buy a barebones laptop without theese and just swap them himself, He’d have to install windows and all the drivers himself but the integrated intel iGPU IrisXe with 96 shader units is more than capable of running the game on medium ( provided he won’t forget to provide a good thermal paste on both the CPU and the iGPU )…
it literally costed me 262,5$ to get that laptop as the selling company cut me some slack on the low amount of ram and small ssd i refused to buy it with. I know for certain that IrisXe (96) works decently with this game due to my history on tech support subforum.
this man be playinfg POTW and we all playing ROTW. crazy.
The heralds are just reskinned monsters. The wavy purple swirl above their heads don’t have to show up in legacy mode.
No one knows how to use OG Microsoft paint anymore, it is a lost art.
The original graphics were arguably harder to make than 3d ones. They modeled everything on 3d studio, then went through an extensive process to turn it all into sprites. This included animating different player sprites with different helms, pauldrons, etc, think that every piece of gear that could change a character’s appearance meant an entire set of sprites that had to be manually created.
Classic D2 might have been one of the most complicated 2d games to make ever. And what’s crazier is that the version we got isn’t even the assets they produced, they had to lower the resolution of everything to fit on CDs. The original high resolution D2 assets are lost to time and were never shipped.
Sadly, I’d pay it. I’m not able to advance to any of the warlock expansion stuff because I love the ability to switch between legacy and resurrected too darn much lol.
I wish an extra 30 dollars could remove my decision paralysis lol
Why not?
“Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave! With a box of scraps!”
It’s really not that difficult
Expect better for yourself, and for us all
Otherwise, what are we even doing?
It’s a small team
it isn’t something that matters
And blizzard isn’t going to pay them to do it
he is simply trolling.
Ah, okay… thanks for letting me know
It could have been done. Modders create new graphics for this game all the time. If nobody in-house could have done it, I’m sure they could’ve reached out to some of these individuals for contract work.
I’m not sure about diablo 2, but I’ve done some sprite work for ultima online, and it takes some time, but it’s not this lost art that we can’t do anymore.
At the very least, placeholder sprites coulda been used. A purple tinted druid sprite coulda represented the warlock or something.
