Or gain interest. It really depends on perspective. Some players would lose all interest if there was no gated content.
It definitely doesn’t. There is no Dclone world event on plugy, the ubers aren’t on plugy.

I would be pretty ok with items staying ladder only if they were not shortening the ladder seasons.
Since they are, I don’t think the items should stay ladder only.
And no, the point of ladder was never to offer rewards. It was to give players a way to reset and not play with all the duped and hacked items. Sure, ladder only stuff was a good incentive back then to get more people to switch over, but it is no longer needed.
I will still play ladder for the resets, because I think early wipe farming is more entertaining. I like throwing my junk uniques at some low level guy who will be ecstatic to have a rixot’s keen or whatever. But I would also like to get the good stuff eventually, and 3-4 months may not be enough. It was fine when it was 6 months, I could usually get everything I wanted before a reset.
They might have talked about it but I’m “pretty sure” they never once said they were changing the ladder to 3 months.
No, content shouldn’t be gated. The incentive is to race other players to lvl 99 and have a fresh start.
Yeah, that works so well in the real world. I want the game to be the game. Players shouldn’t be wealthy, they should be players. All content should be available in all game modes and playstyles.
No, content should definitely be gated. The incentive is racing other players to get those items and have a fresh start.
Ok but you are still racing other players to get those items in the ladder season, you also get a fresh start every season as well. So how is that a bonus for gated content in nonladder?
Dclone works as a random spawn on Plugy, with the SoJ message still. While next exactly the same as Bnet, the original purpose was to remove duped SoJs from the market. It might not function the same on D2R as it does on D2.
Also, the recent Plugy update this year that works with version 1.14d (as until last year, all versions were stuck at 1.13 compatibility) and it has more accurate emulation of the uber tristram event.
Join the ranks of Diablo II: Resurrected players worldwide and enjoy the race to the top of the ladder. Rank up in a new, exclusive ladder system with more frequent restarts and earn your place among legends.
Still on the D2R mainpage for features. More frequent ladders means more than 2 resets a year. Unless you want 2 month or 1 month seasons, this can ONLY be 3-4 months per season. Basic math is basic.
Yeah this is pretty much all I’m saying. Plugy provides a great service for people, what it does not do is this.
Other than the fact you could still have a 5month season and do 2.4 ladder resets or 4 months for 3 or any fraction of a month like 4 months 3 weeks for 2.6 resets per year your math is perfect
It still is giving you the ability to challenge the ubers. Maybe the function might be different, and I will agree, the 1.13 plugy versions had easier uber tristram due to server side hardcode and limited available data, but:
PlugY 14 is out !
v14.00 changes :
Making them more akin to the challenge of bnet (I’d assume better dll injections to get more data to do it). It still does serve as the ONLY way to play the full game, with the full itemization of the game, in an untimed environment. Might be a little emulation, and emulation by nature has it’s flaws in not being 100% perfect, but it’s there.
Yes, you could have uneven seasons. Do you really think the devs are going to chop up seasons like that though, realistically? I know we had different lengths on D2, but I don’t remember anything being shorter than 6 months, which has been the standard for the past few years.
We’re really arguing over nothing, but it’s not the full game, it’s a mod, it’s something entirely different. Plugy doesn’t give you the full D2 experience, it gives you a Plugy experience, which is fine, too.
LOL more frequent means more frequent , it does not mean more than 2 a year, and certainly not 3-4 a year. 5 month ladder reset is more frequent and will not give you more than 2 resets a year. Basic math is basic.
great part is we don’t need to rely on memory yours or mine we can just look up start dates. Tuesday November 24 2015 season 17 start, Tuesday May 17 2016 Season 18 start. That is as you can probably tell less than 6 months
Fine. We’ll say 95% in an untimed environment. Better than having 70-80% untimed (non ladder). And arguing over nothing is fun! Would you rather argue ploot, balance changes, etc again? :-p I’m really just killing time tonight anyways. As tomorrow after work, it’ll be Beta time. Perhaps a couple rum and diet cokes to go with it. Might even have to download dischord and look up that server that keeps getting passed around.
True.
Oh god, no, beta is tomorrow no more of these threads ![]()
If I hadn’t grown into an allergy to all alcohol in the last few years, I’d be right there with you. I’ve learned I have a rare genetic reaction, and never had any problems until just recently. Too bad, eh? Guess I’ll just have a lot of coffee ![]()
That does sound fun. I’ve not used discord frequently, and don’t really know how it works, but perhaps!
Now yer jes bein silly. Close enough to 6 months. While I know what they say about assuming (as it already bit most of us in the butt to assume ladders would be with launch), the assumption of more frequent resets would be less than 6 months, but the assumption also leads to per year. When you look that way, you round down the decimal point, so 2.4 per year is still only 2 per year.
OG D2 ladder resets twice a year. If the resets are more frequent… it stands to reason it would be a reset in less than 6 months… right? I mean… unless the words MORE and FREQUENT have somehow changed definitions.
ok you must have already started drinking because you just proved my point for me thanks.
I haven’t used it myself much over the last year except to talk to a couple of friends from my home state on their server, but used to use it a bit when I was more hardcore into FF14. I always preferred teamspeak though.
