Keys stacking + Countess runes

You’re arguing probability which has no bearing on reality I just got 3 pul runes in a row from hell countess how’s that for reality ?

That’s bound to happen at some point. That still doesn’t mean it will happen consistently and it is still not the best place to farm runes. Go run countess til your eyes bleed and tell us if you ever get 3 Pul in a row again. (Hint: her drop rate for Pul is somewhere between 1:107 and 1:130 so the odds of getting 3 in a row are between 1:1,225,043 and 1:2,197,000… which coincidentally means your story of 3 Pul in a row is likewise an utter fabrication).

Remember all probabilities start at a 100% chance then diverge.

Probability of you being a troll: 100%, no divergence.

Not necessary
Got a soj from her 2 days ago
And a 2 key drop followed by another 2 key drop couple weeks ago
On the other side ive had a 100+ runs streak of no keys

The problem here is…you are taking a statistically general rule and aplying it to personal experiences and of course our exp will diverge from the statistic

I do agree that the countess is not the best for anything after ist in SP, LK is by far the best

Quite the opposite. First, ridiculous claims are being made (cubed up to Enigma on 8000 countess runs in a week, 3xPul in a row… what’s funny is the Pul claim is less likely than the Enigma claim) that are outside the realm of statistical likelihood. Then, on the premise that such claims are true, the conclusion is being made that those individual experiences (as unlikely or fabricated as they may be) are the rule and not the exception.

I can say I got lucky and found a Jah in the Canyon of the Magi on my way to Duriel, that doesn’t mean that’s where you should farm for Jah runes.

Hi might have run only 8000 runs before he bought his enigma, but I doubt that he ran even the 8000 runs

Yes, it does.

  • Cognitive dissonance causes feelings of unease and tension, and people attempt to relieve this discomfort in different ways. Examples include “explaining things away” or rejecting new information that conflicts with their existing beliefs.

I wish you the best.

What is the trick to farming Council?
I’ve done, maybe 30ish runs there and have never had a single rune drop.
Lvl 93 (now 94) zeal pally, that can melee “tank” through the members.
I use the way point, then run straight to them… smash through… and… nadda.
And, I’ve only started farming recently, and I’m causal player with career, wife, home, friends… so a couple-ish hours a day.

You play a barbarian and use find item on the council. And you do it 10,000 times.
Just go kill Countess, its faster.
Or, do the experiment yourself. Do multiple methods until you obtain an objective, multiple times, compare and contrast your data and form your conclusion like I did.

Countess was, by far, the fastest method for me. I compared it to;

  • Lower Kurast chests on P7
  • Council on P3 (couldn’t kill P7 solo)
  • Cows on P3/5/7

The trick, as with anything in D2, is repetition.

The odds of individual high runes dropping from Council are on the order of like 1:75,000 or so. 30 runs is unlikely to yield anything.

Keep in mind that these odds are an order of magnitude better than anywhere else, where your high rune odds are approximately 1:650,000 to 1:960,000.

The common misconception is odds of certain superunique monsters for high runes, such as Summoner or Countessz who can drop up to Lo with odds of about 1:45,000 which on the surface seems better than Council until you consider there are eleven Council members against one superunique in a given run, so your overall odds are still about an order of magnitude higher.

What something causes is not what something is.

Cognitive dissonance is a pattern of inconsistent thought, often manifested in behavioral decisions and frequently exhibited as hypocrisy.

It is regularly evident in “rules for thee and not for me” patterns of thought. A prime example in contemporary discourse is pro life arguments held against vaccine and mask mandates: “Women should have to carry to term because life is precious. // I won’t wear a mask or get vaccinated because that’s my personal choice.”

So, for that to work, you much use Barb… no thanks… nothing against Barb, just, not going to make another player.
And, for my pally, in my extremely limited experience, Countess has been best as well… Having said that, the best drops I’ve found have been from random monster mobs, in areas no one ever mentions… totally unexpected, unpredictable.

Can’t help you if you don’t want to first admit you have a problem.

Understood… I’ll keep at it then.

By your own admission you have only claimed to have done one of these things to completion, once. You did not repeat an objective multiple times and so in fact you have nothing to compare to. You gave up and determined that only the method where you found random success is the best method.

Making more stuff up, I see? There was no “giving up.” Countess was faster, by metric.

Faster that one time and compared to what? How long did it take you to make Enigma doing trav runs? Doing LK chests? Repeatedly? Oh right, you only did it on countess (supposedly) and only the one time.

Incorrect. On all accounts. Maybe stop making assumptions and try and keep a more open mind? I know its hard, and skepticism would be fine but what you’re showing goes well and above beyond.

I have been incapable of making an enigma with trav runs. I did as many Trav runs as I did Countess ones. I haven’t “given up” but I just don’t see runes nearly as often. You really do underestimate Countess, have you ever tried her? Often?

So, again, you don’t follow your own instruction for completing multiple locations, multiple times.

You stated 8000 countess runs the one time. How many runs for how many subsequent times? You stated 10,000 Trav runs and then gave up. So now you’re fabricating further stories of multiple Countess Enigmas without giving any further times or statistics, and saying you did Trav as many times as Countess but only 10,000 times. Oh what a web of lies.

As you and many others have said, RNG is RNG I guess? Maybe Council just hates me.

My runeword goals were Enigma and HOTO so I could play my hammerdin offline. I made both of them using Countess runs. Enigma took about 8000 runs. HOTO took far fewer, around 1000.
My next goals was a Chains of Honor. Took about 6000.
I complete these goals, as well as a set of Dragon runewords with Countess. As I kept completing runeword after runeword, I still maintained Council (I stopped doing LK chests, forgive me?) and I still haven’t made a single runeword. I do have a good collection of some high runes from it, but not enough to complete a word.

I kept separate tabs for runes found with each method, and whichever one won first, I noted.

My conclusion is sound; Countess is by far the best selection to farm for offline play. Maybe if I was online, Council would be a quicker method because I could trade with other players, I will give you that. In terms of complexity/difficulty of the runs, Countess again wins out. Those hydras from council hurt unless you’re really decked, and just about any sorc can do countess. Council requires a barb.

Clearly I am not going to convince you, so hopefully someone with a more level head, without the clear hate you have, will come along and see words of wisdom. Maybe enough to try the method as I have.
