Joy after hell?

Sorry, Dark Souls is better because you actually get something that is useful and good from killing a boss that has killed you 50 times or more where as you get crap mostly when killing bosses after they murdered you many times in Diablo 2. People like to feel rewarded for their deeds, not crapped on by a low level blue item that is useless.

What is this blasphemy you speak? I don’t recall this…

Diablo 2 hell mode needs a 100% drop chance item that is unique to the bosses in hell anytime you kill them like in Dark Souls where they drop soul orbs that are unique to them and can be used to make powerful weapons. Like maybe 20 of something from each boss in Hell lets you craft really good stuff or maybe use it to get a chance to transmuting the items to get a chance for a high rune.

Like for Diablo as an example (and the other bosses) he should have chance to drop like one of 20 different parts of his body per game and each body part from each boss can be put into cube that turns into a a perfect Gem or a chance for a mid to high rune.

I agree with you up until there is no real end game. The end game for most people is a couple different things.

  • Holy Grail

  • Optimization (Perfect Gear)

  • Trading

  • PVP ( VLLD, LLD, HC)

Don’t worry about getting those rare runes. Look for rare items and a rare rune will come with time. I have a lot of fun looking for that perfect chaos base and gg rare claw.

You can’t holy grail on bnet, not really.
Optimization you can do before the “end game” via LLD’s, or whatever.
Trading can be done at any stage.
Again, PvP can be done at any level.

I mean I guess doing ubers is end game? Sort of?

Sure, but thats what people consider the end game.

Yeah I’m just obviously referring to what’s generally considered the modern-day “end game”. D2 doesn’t have that. You don’t hit a cap level, farm dungeons/raids/skill-trade-craft levels. You just kind of do whatever you want.

Lvl cap is 99 but not sure what you meant.

Torch and Anni farming is the closest you get to raids in D2. Collect 200 sojs and spawn uber diablo.

Endless farming, Ubers, and DClone are the only things left to do after finishing Hell. I myself find my interest fading fast now that I finally killed Hell Baal (soloed everything except Normal Duriel and Hell Ancients). I had wanted to level a WW Barb, Bowazon, Zeal Pally, and Summonmancer but I just don’t feel like it anymore. I’m probably gonna end up playing something else for awhile and level one of them later.

When you really try to compare total different Genres something is reaaaaaaaly wrong with you.

But okay, i walk that path too: Final Fantasy X -------> all Dark Soul Games, even the Future Games.

once the the hell story is completed youve completed the tutorial.

its time to farm for your chase items - the adventure begins.

You want fun?
Make a hardcore character, and beat the game in normal, nightmare and hell…
Without healing in any way outside of leveling. No wells, no replenish, no health pots–NO HEALING.
Also don’t buy any items from vendors and make sure you shout out if you pass a llama.
Record the entire process, and post it online.
Fun!

Mate getting keys are easy, i get 3 of each sets in less than a day during my routine mf runs…

D2’s class depth/design and sunk cost fallacy/jsp forum gold are the only reasons people come back to D2.

Ladder launches are popular because the level 1 to hell journey is hands down the best part of the game, so much so that I’d say it is the ONLY valuable part of the game; once you clear hell, the game completely stales out for the most part, unless you have a character capable of ubers, in which case it stales out once you’ve farmed your torch from ubers.

Leveling for the last ~11 levels or so is absurdly slow and not worth anyone’s time (one of the many reasons why botting is so prevalent)

Drop rates for most useful things are poorly implemented, and the trade economy is a complete joke. Fully convinced the only people who feel positively about the current state of trading are JSP users… (again, one of the many reasons bots are so prevalent)

PvP is imbalanced, and frankly, quite lame. WSG being removed was the nail in the coffin, sealing D2R pvp as a niche gimmick rather than this end-all, be-all it is usually touted as by the D2 pvp community.

Seeing as solo self found ladders will almost certainly not be a thing, there is no way to be meaningfully competitive in D2R, outside of the context of JSP forum gold… those are the only people doing any “meaningful” competing, and it ruins the game economy as a result of it.

D2 endgame sucks (person with 4 characters cleared hell, gotten 3 torches solo, and countless GG item drops here)

Click the hostile button sometime and play “dodge the blizzards” or “eat the hammers”.

There’s a lot of truth here. I have mentioned previously that without ladder, that competitive edge is gone, and also , the reason to return over and over. I have also stated, i am not convinced a ladder is coming. But, we shall see.

With reference to Dante Alighieri’s Inferno, after completing your journey through the many levels of hell, you may wish to explore The Complete Works of William Blake. That will keep you busy for a bit and may inspire you towards becoming a creative writer. :writing_hand:
