Johanna Faries, New President of Blizzard

I thought this was a good interview of Johanna Faries on Behind the Brand. I have to say I’m cautiously optimistic she is taking over the reins at Blizzard. Only time will tell.

Doesn’t really matter. Modern blizzard will never ever be like og blizzard ever again.
You’re delusional and living in the past to think otherwise.
Look at recent games and trends that is simply modern blizzard and how gaming today works.

She won’t be any different than the last guy.

I can almost guarantee she’s just there to oversee major restructuring. Not sure what’s on the other side of that though.

That’s true. When a big company like Activision acquired Blizzard, its inevitable company culture will be lost. However, I still think good can come from this change and she can shake things up. But I think righting her off before her first day in the office is premature. Although, I would have preferred lore chief Chris Metzen to take the hot seat.

Her lack of involvement in the gaming industry prior to her joining CoD should be a red flag. She took over as GM of CoD in May of 2020. This is months before MW2/WZ2 went live and for any CoD fans here, this was considered one of the worst in CoD history. She was also in charge when they decided to push MW3 up ONE FULL YEAR and is the current iteration that is live now. She’s all about the money, not the gamers so her taking of Blizzard is a big old giant L. Expect D2R to go into maintenance mode at this point, we’ll be lucky to get seasonal resets.

Um… “Go into maintenance mode”? We’re already there.

As far as ladder resets, it’s basically a fully automated process… Raymond the Janitor could do it with a bop of a button with the backstroke of his mop while doing his rounds through the server room.

Nah I wouldn’t say it was there. I held some hope after they adjusted the seasonal events for Christmas. There was some thought put into them even though they didn’t necessarily require any work to implement. Season 4 had some changes, wasn’t a clean reset. But yea, I think it’s pretty much over now.
