Hi there,
with the setting “Automap Auto Open” you can already set up the map being displayed automatically when entering a game.
This should also be possible for item labels, e.g. when the toggle mode was left on at the end of the last game.

There are going to be situations where you want item labels toggled off, because the item labels can interfere with game play by hindering your ability to attack monsters. Having the map active doesn’t interfere with your ability to attack monsters.
You’re pressing buttons on your mouse for attacking and moving, along with using your keyboard to switch to other skills/quick cast, opening your inventory, etc. Is it really that cumbersome to press an extra button to show/hide item labels?
If you’re using a controller, stop punishing yourself. This game wasn’t designed for a controller. Keyboard/mouse is the way to play this game.
i want my items always on.
I do agree.
I feel like when I play on console that they seem to stay on, but when I play on PC it auto-toggles off, which is just one more thing I need to toggle at the beginning of each run.
For me personally it didn’t take long for me to “convert” from the “press and hold alt to show items” D2 default to “use alt to toggle items on and off” and I usually just toggle them on and leave them on. Certain situations like horking specific corpses, or trying to MA sin or something I do shut them off, but often I play with them on all the time. So it would be a nice QoL for the game to simply remember the last state you had them.
Not the end of the world, but nice QoL. I assume they’ll get right on adding it right after they move Cain in Act 5!![]()
