Is the d2r economy being propped up by bots & rmt or something?

i spent 2 weekends farming for a ber rune/farming items to trade towards a ber rune and burnt myself out. then out of curiosity i checked how much a ber rune costs on an rmt site and it’s $2. how does ~15 hours of farming not get me a ber rune but i’m able to buy one for $2? the worst part is i needed 2 of these stupid things for infinity but now i don’t care anymore because pd2 s12 is coming out soon.

Exactly. It’s ridiculous.

This made me wonder what if D2R didn’t have crossplay. The PS5 version would be the most authentic version of D2R where a Ber would be worth a Ber. So in a way I feel like crossplay robbed D2 of having that potential.

That question shows you have been playing the game hard. Well done brotha.

Do it once fully legit!!!

The ridiculous scale of the botting is hard to wrap your mind around. It gets to the point where not only does stuff sell for 100 jah runes, stuff sells for inventories full of 5all res 7%mf bear claw small charms lol

selling high value items for a buck or two is demeaning and degrading this masterpiece… more precisely, not the actual game, the experience you get…

it is like dressing a beautiful woman with worthless, cheap clothes

getting a BER is ridiculously hard… getting an infinity is even harder… why would you want any of this given to you for a buck right at the beggining ? these are endgame items

it is much better to play the game, casually, and make your builds on your own ! You can look into everything, the skills, the loot, the possible choices… you can look at sites, chat in the forums… the way I see it, there is no point to give even 10 bucks and get all the gg items… absolutely no reason to do such a thing… not even for 1 dollar…

I traded 12 ists for a ber rune

I have a friend, who playing a lot, and doesn’t really know anything about the runes, prices, game mechanics. He told me one day, that he found a HR. I asked which one, and he didn’t remember. He checked his mule and it was a BER. He found a BER, and didn’t remember the name.

ever thought the only reason this game is still alive in a decent capacity is botting? This has been mentionned before, most of this player base have responsabilities like children, job and others. These guys are still around because of that. You are just envious that you arent the one making the 2 dollars

you got it all wrong my friend !

I play d2 for fun ! I like the game a lot ! I like the builds, the dmg calculation, the combination of loot ! I have given thousands of hours !

and you say that I am envious of not making 2 dollars ???

come on… think again my friend !

btw why are you defensive ? do you run a bot ?

: )

no need to run a bot to understand that people 30+ years old have responsabilities so a lot of them will take the shortcut

unfortunately, because all the realms are linked, all the botted items in asia realm ( which is about 90+% of them) can be traded or sold worldwide.

if blizzard actually cared.. they would separate the realms and that would make the economy last much longer like in LOD.

if you are just a little bit good at IT you can find everything for free… or you can download a bot and have it running 24/7… but that would be missing all the fun… and there would be no point in playing…

people who have responsibilities don’t want to be rich in d2… they want to be rich in real life… they just want to have fun by playing the best game ever made on weekends… only kids and imbeciles want to buy all the shiny things they see left and right

I made a dual dream Pally once… and he was so OP that I deleted him… no point in playing with him… I also downloaded all loot, runes, sets, everything at another time… had it all for free… no point, again… also got rid of all that…

so yeah… it is not the goal that matters, it is the journey… but hey, who am I to be recommending things to adults…

you dont know what you’re doing, is all.

i’m aware that these are endgame items. i’m also aware that these aren’t even necessary items because the game becomes trivial once you’re reasonably geared up postgame, but the droprate of runes is truly abysmal which makes me wonder how so many of these runes enter circulation in the first place. if bers are selling for $2, it means most of these runes exist because groups botted for them. eliminating bots and and raising the default drop rate for runes to p3 or p5 would go a very long way towards making endgame runes easier to obtain without eliminating the grind.

what’s you favourite character and skill, if I may ask ?

(btw, I found a ber after playing 3 years systematically, then found another after 1.5 years… : ) )

Except it didnt in LoD either. In fact as i recall the economy was just as bad in LoD and there was even more bot games in lobby. There was nothing but BotBaal-4397 and DiaBaal-9874 game names in lobby

All Illuminati and Free Mason

LOD was broken as hell too

I have very little free time to play this game and I still don’t fully understand that mindset. If the goal of the game is to progress your character, skipping progression in any way, regardless of how much time it takes to get there, defeats the point. I would understand if those items were a requirement to beat the game, but they aren’t. You can beat hell difficulty with cheap runewords.

Yeah you answered your own question. It’s bots, maybe dupes too, I doubt there isn’t some duping method going on in D2R.

It probably is bots, and could also be dupes. But I want to point out one last aspect nobody has considered. Most players if not many are creating solo MF farming games, and that definitely has an impact on making this more of a grind.

Think of the impact if we could do P8 in a solo game? Think of the impact if did not have shared loot and were incentivized to get in an MF run of 8 players. I doubt the game is capable of doing away with shared loot, but it certainly would be nice.

im talking about sell site bots and spammers..
lod had sell site spammer but they normally joined the game and then left. you could stop them by a lvl restrict
then later on blizzard added a filter you could customize to filter anything like their dumb variation of “.com”

as for the people who ran baal and chaos bots? at that point who cares.. those were for leveling.

if i am joining a game run by a bot its because its efficient.. i know im not getting the good loot.

the only thing i ever cared about was the not getting spammed.

helping people in chat lobby is where i made 95% of my freinds.
you help people in a pub game they just say “thanks” and leave
you help them with thier build as a 10+ and now 20+ year veteran and u can make good freinds to play with

THATS what i care about

i also LOVED the trivia bots we had in personal channels
i cant type to save my life but im very good at the lore and stuff they said so it was hysterical to me trying to type it but spelling it wrong like 5 times while they other people then saw what i wrote and tried to type what i did but spelled correctly.
