Blizzard has never been the king of arpg
Hmmm… I guess I would, as there are many things that are either big issues for the future of the franchise or that make absolutely no sense lore-wise.
- With superhero nephalem appearing, it cheapens any future threat that could appear. The concept of nephalem itself is problematic, as you should simply have humans, not some other category of beings.
- Tyrael becoming human makes no sense. Not that the falling narrative is bad, just that the execution is nonsensical.
- The idea that the warrior in Diablo 1 is the son of Leoric makes no sense either. I’d guess this comes from some book of the franchise, but nothing supports that notion anywhere.
- Zoltan’s immortality is problematic too. There are ways to make some nephalem completely immortal, and that notion is ignored?!?
- The attempts of Belial, Azmodan and Diablo to usurp the power of all other evils removes the ability to have alliances between some of the seven in the future.
- The angels have a member that can actually see very precisely the future, and they get surprised by some stuff? That’s completely absurd.
- Malthael and his goons become corrupt just for choosing to kill the humans? When they could have simply explained it by a side-effect of Diablo’s actions in act IV?
- It’s possible to become invulnerable? How has that not been weaponized sooner? And why will it never appear ever again in the franchise?
There are a lot of other points I have issues with, but these ones are intrinsically problematic.
Now, I don’t get all the hate about Cain dying. Sure, the way they killed him off was bad, but he had to disappear at some point, and he wouldn’t have made it to Diablo IV anyways. I am way more pissed off at how they made Adria a villain, as it seems contrary to how she was portrayed in Diablo 1, and it goes contrary to the interest of having shady characters capable of being on the hero’s side.
I also like RoS better than LoD but it is very close. D2R is an excellent game.

Not new, been a Blizzard fan since Warcraft Orc and Humans, I am a fan of the company itself and could care less if the original Blizzard North devs are no longer around

Huh, what did I say that is exactly wrong? Classic d2 and d2r trump d3 but you gotta be one miserable sob to claim d3 is just pure crap when the way the game runs is better than any other arpg out there, makes poe feel clunky af.
Well we’re not taking into account that’s it’s trendy to rip on everything, rather than speak to it’s good points. People think it makes them edgy. What it actually makes them is the goth kids on South Park.

I agree, the D2R Amazon face is horrifying
D3 evolved to a good game but the launch ruined it for me. Diablo 2 really isnt too different however, D2 has a much better story but it is presented more seemless with d3.
