I hope devs don't lose their spine

First, I want the game to stay as much as possible the same as before. I played it a lot and liked it.
But I’m not against changes that can improve gameplay / replayability / accessibility (like more 85 areas, cow level and why not personnal loot if nicely implemented)
For ex, improving some end skills could open the door for more builds and diversity (and then, some useless items could be less useless…)
This won’t break the game, nor it will make the game easier, but simply add some more possibilities for builds. Of course, I don’t want any build to be able to do anything. Though I highly doubt that devs will change anything on the skills balance (and it is also ok).

My point of view is that FCR breakpoints are not a core mechanic (FCR is, breakpoints are not)… They were due to a limitation of the engine (sprites vs 3D animations) and a game limitation should never be mandatory to finish it. That does not mean a solo player must be able to finish any game (groups may be required), but a technical limitation should never go against the player (by knowing or not knowing it). All you should know is that more FCR means more DPS or whatever (that’s part of the game), not that you have to go at xx% and not xx-1% because of some engine limitation.
Immunes are part of the game (core mechanic), so you have to find a way to deal with them.

A separate ladder will of course split the player base, but I would be really curious to see the % of players… I think most of the people would move on the updated ladder but that’s only my feeling.

I’m reading posts in this forum since some time now and what I often see is :

  • Lots of people suggesting changes (with some very nice post describing how to implement). Some of them take the time to describe it nicely without any aggressivity or trolling.
  • Some guys immediately jumping in and saying “go back to D3, this is our D2R…” without any other explanation and sometimes without even reading the post.
  • Others guys against the changes and explaining why (which is nice to read)
Calm down… everyone can suggest anything, and at the end, only the devs will choose and implement what they feel is needed…

No-one can pretend to have more right over this remaster / remake than someone else.
You (people in general, no specific target !) may have played it 20 years non-stop, you still don’t own the game.
Everyone can suggest changes without the fear of being attacked.
And at the end, if the game delivered by the devs does not suit your vision, just move on (go back to D2:LOD/D3, find a new game, develop your own perfect one and sell it…)

Have a nice day
