I actually ran out of hotkeys. Blizzard please add more hotkeys

When playing a paladin (FOH\Smite in my case), 16 hotkeys are no longer enough.

Q Fanaticism
W Redemption
E Conviction
R Town Portal
T Teleport
A Smite
S Conversion
D Charge
F Fist of Heavens
G Holy Bolt
Z Vigor
X Salvation
C Cleansing
V Battle Command
B Battle Orders
N Holy Shield

I also want to hotkey a life tap wand. But I cannot… And it’s not even mutually exclusive with everything, I am testing a crazy strat with fighting Ubers with an Um’ed Bone Wand of Life Tap.

Please add more hotkeys! At least 20 total! Thanks.

1-7, F1-F6 can use those!

I cannot, the game settings only allow to allocate 16 keys to skill binds

Use life tap on your right click.

Ahh ok, I understand the problem.

Put TP scrolls in one of your belt slots. Requires a bit more attention to make sure you don’t run out though. The belt will fill up with them as long as you have at least one in a belt slot. Plus you’ll free up a 1x2 spot for more charms or whatever.

If you’re worried about getting caught without any in your belt, just keep a scroll in your inventory for emergencies until you get used to it.

obviously I cannot use it on the left click

But if you are referring to the default unbound action on swap… well it kinda sucks honestly, i don’t want to be without an aura right after swapping. And even then I am talking main weapon life tap wand case here.

Youre a sociopath if you use that many skills, consistently…

Lol joking ofc, but seriously give this guy more keys

i don’t use them all in 1 situation obviously, like i don’t need cleansing and conviction for ubers for example, those are for baalruns; redemption is mostly for solo play. Conversion only in some places\situations. But rebinding keys to mix them up in a bad moment isn’t fun.

Before Blizzard gives you 20 hotkeys, consider the tips below, which can save you 4 hotkeys.

Redemption - remove hotkey, make it default aura on weapon switch.

Use quick cast, then remove hotkey on either smite, conversion, or charge. Then put the one you removed on mouse left click.

Town portal - remove hotkey, then put scrolls on your belt slot. You can get rid of tp book in inventory, which also saves you two slots of space for two more small charms.

Holy shield - consider remove hotkey, with enough +skills and p-comb charms, you really only need to cast it every 11 to 12 minutes.

i do that sometimes! but for doing ubers on a budget i really want to have as many pots in my belt as possible.

this is actually a good tip, thanks!

Yes I used this strat actually. I do use quick cast and had the default spare action. But honestly I feel easier to press on the hotkey buttons rather than LMB. And besides, sometimes with quick cast the default action just gets changed. I cannot figure out this bug but it happens to me daily, many times.

Not bad too. I can have it default on switch for the games where i know i might use it.

For ubers, you have life tap right? So all you really need is mana pots. 12 mana pots should be enough for uber fight. Also in uber Tristram, you can’t use TP anyways, so might as well get rid of the tp books/scrolls all together for that fight, and use full belt of mana pots or a mix of full rejuvs.

oh man, you do need juvies so much even with life tap. I am not doing grief exile builds here, i am trying to beat ubers with smoke and rhyme level of gear

i know that kind of excludes the CTA keys too - but again it’s just so weird having anything else bound on them, it will only make me confused.

I see, with smoke and rhyme, the fight is just gonna take longer. When ubers hit you, the damage you take with grief exile should be about the same as smoke and rhyme. If you can survive with grief/exile, then smoke and rhyme should be ok, as long as you have mana pots so you can smite back to get the leech from life tap. You have BO, so ubers shouldn’t one shot you. But if they do one-shot you, even grief/exile won’t be much better either.

Back to the topic of hotkeys. Hotkeying a TP will be useless in uber Trist, due to you’re not allowed to use it anyways. So just toss those out in case you need full 16 pots on the belt. The other uber boss fights, you can just TP back to town to get more pots if needed. Honestly, if you don’t fight ubers like on an hourly basis, just put the tp scrolls on the belt and call it a day, don’t worry too much about getting full 16 pots on the belt, you have Redemption to use for the non-uber fights.

1 more thing, do you have Enigma or not?

My senior professor told us one time that just because can drink an entire bottle of Jack Daniels, you probably shouldn’t.

Do you really need all of those bound?

as I said - i don’t use them all at the same time, but i use all of those, they are all very useful in different scenarios. And changing hotkeys so that today C is for cleansing and tomorrow it is for life tap is really confusing and leads to errors

the difference is the amount of life you leech via life tap. On a weak build you leech much less.

no but i am experimenting with teleport staves and amulets

OK. Actually this whole discussion goes back to where you can’t afford to replace 4 pots on the belt with 4 tp scrolls. Like I said in earlier post, when you’re in Uber Trist, town portal doesn’t work, so you don’t need it, so you can save a hotkey for it. Before you go into uber Trist, throw away all the tp scrolls on your belt and put full rejuvs there, so you can have full 16 pots on your belt. After you’re done in uber Trist, put the tp scrolls back into belt slot, problem solved.

LOL you think we’re getting more buttons? We can’t even get more character slots even after MrLlamaSC asked the developers himself and gave them valid reasons why we would/need more. We can 't even get QoL stackable runes/gems. A separate charm inv…You think we’re getting more buttons?

I bet they’d come back with some BS statement like "we feel as though 16 active hotkeys is more than sufficient for ‘most’ builds in D2R, which is why we feel it wouldn’t be in the players interest to increase the amount of hotkeys given as it wouldn’t impact the majority of classes in D2R. We feel the resources that would be spent on such a minority of players could be better used to >insert what players think they want< " blah blah blah you get my point.

They have an answer for everything, and if asked about more buttons, they’ll tell you why you’re wrong and why you don’t want that.

I like how you snuck this in there. Sneaky sneaky!!! While it might be perceived as QoL, it would undo the self balancing aspect of charms, which is power for the sacrifice of inventory space.

For me it was the mouse wheel (big fingers … or tiny mouse) => in game options => controls => select previous skill/next skill
