I am curious how much are you people planning to play Diablo 4? And are you hyped for it? Do you think it can be even better than d2?
As true Diablo fan I will surely play it of course, but something tells me it will not be type of game you can play for years like D2. Atleast not for me, I could not play D3 more than 2 years and I felt like I was even forcing myself to play it sometimes just because in my mind I wanted to be good diablo game for me to play many years and replacing diablo 2.
Do I think that I will enjoy Diablo 4? I am sure devs made good game and I will enjoy campaign and doing achievements or challenges. But i dont believe its same type of game like D2 where you dont need even actual end game content to be good to play for ages.
What makes D2 so great? It hard to grasp exactly why. But I would say its very harsh world in which anything can kill you and your team mate might become your doom without even warning. Then its constant discovery of things in diablo 2 even to this day. If you go to game as new player, you basicly need years to learn everything about the game. Its that knowledge gaining which feel so great as you are better at game with it. And then its also great but far from perfect itemization. Its that never ending hunt for items you never found yet. Its that Zod rune you still didnt find in 15 years of playing.
Diablo 2 offers a lot to do and various ways to enjoy it. Sure game has many flaws but still is so much better than newer Diablo 3.
I am curious what will Diablo 4 offers to me. For now I know that i am very dissapointed with limited trading and the fact that game is online only. So there will not be mods. Modding/playing mods and trading was always what I enjoyed a lot in diablo 2. I played d4 beta a lot and i am not exactly amazed by itemization either.
Sadly I dont feel hyped anymore at all which is very weird to me. I was more hyped about D3. I guess i can blame d3 for this as it was huge dissapointment to me and now I dont anymore expect good continuing of diablo franchise. And i dont mean financial success. I dont care about that. They will surely make ton of money. But will it be successful game for true diablo 2 fans? I sadly doubt that.
I was more hyped to do HC speedrun in group at season start of D2R than i am for release of D4. I am actualy enjoying D2HC season very much now and I dont even like that d4 release just in one month as it will cut my d2 season play
.
So what do you think guys?

This is what I just read on a website about Diablo 4 Uniques:
Drop rate:
Uniques are so rare that players can expect only a few to drop each Season. Regular and Sacred Unique items begin dropping in World Tier 3 Ancestral Unique items only drop in World Tier 4
I would think that experienced players like you would like that theres an aspect where farming knowledge and efficiency and skill can separate you from those that don’t put in the same amount of effort.
Finding a rare find is 1000x more rewarding than finding something that can be botted and traded around for low currency.
I agree that no trading is bad, but limited trading could possibly be a good thing, especially if it aids you in open world PvP, or exploring more dangerous areas, etc.

I sadly dont have much hope in pvp either. It will impossible to reasonably balance it with so many skill modifications from items and bilions of dmg and several types of dmg. I am 99% sure thaz d4 pvp will be just very casual experience.

I think people get far too caught up in “balance” and use it as an excuse for whatever. If class X with Y skill and Z modifier is best, then use the best. If you stylistically like the play of class M with N skill and O modifer, cool, but that doesn’t render your class unviable in PvP, you choose that be it because you find it easier to play or it hard counters something or perhaps it works better for your team. If in broodwar the only viable strategy was for terran to 8rax open it doesn’t mean that there is an imbalance if it forces the proper response out of whoever they’re facing to go less economy to deal with it, even if they really wanted to go 4 command centers first.
D4’s pvp will be casual just as d2’s was. Sure some took it seriously, but the play pool of PvPers in D2 was always tiny.

I was not impressed much during playing beta. But if they transfer core features of D2 like low drop rates and trading I will consider D4.

That’s a good call, I just saw on MacroBioBois video that the devs think leaderboards won’t happen for 1 and even 2 seasons which is pretty weird for a triple A release. It shows that the game is basically being rushed out to be at least playable for campaign. So yeah there’s no way PvP will be balanced at all especially since they didn’t do a beta for it.
What a coincidence, looks like Xtimus just released a video on this topic as well:

Well imho the most dissapointment part of D4 is d3 combat with it’s resource generator system and CDR’s.
Cuz imho it’s not a good example for ARPG combat.
About pvp:
I played d2 pvp a lot back in LoD. But honestly i don’t rly understand people who took it seriously. If you wanna true competitve pvp RPG style just play WOW arena it’s way superior to D2 pvp. But ofc D2 pvp is way better than D3.
About drop rates idk it’s way too unclear now, but it won’t matter a lot if there will be heavy restrictions on trade.
I could say that D4 has potentional and i will play it but you should never expect D2 greatness from D4 cuz we now live in a different time.

If d2 had casual pvp , what is pvp in d3 then? D3 pvp is prime example how badly it will be balanced with builds made around skill modifications. And d4 has it even more.

I am a former Diablo 2 LOD player & I have no intention of buying Diablo 4.
I will investigate the skill tree, the quests, items & more, but I dont believe it can come near Diablo 2, IF you are a former Diablo 2 player.
Diablo 4 would probably contain so many “Not making sense” things & features.
Just like Diablo 3 did.
I have “MY” Diablo 3 & it is called “Diablo 2 Resurrected” & I love it.

23 year old d2 player …voy to play d4 and forget d2r , I don’t want to play in a world full of bots , if d4 becomes the same I will leave diablo for good.

We cant blame d2r for sitiation with bots. We can only blame the blizzard for not doing good job to protect game from cheaters.

I’m looking forward to it, but won’t buy it until it’s on sale. The biggest things turning me off are battle pass and I thought I read something somewhere about daily challenges. I’m 34 with 2 kids. I don’t have time to play games everyday, and I’m definitely not interested in continuous pay games. I have an issue with subscription software (or anything with that as a business model) and micro transactions. Let me pay you for something and be done with it, I’m not a continuous revenue stream for you. And yes, I do know that the battle pass is optional. Also, I much prefer to play games by myself instead of in a party, so single player or solo is the most enjoyable to me, and I don’t think that’s really much of an option from what I’ve read.
TL;DR - I’m gonna wait and see if I can answer some more of my initial questions on first players feedback.

Not even remotely considering it. Absolutely nothing about the game appeals to any part of me. I don’t even like the look of it.
Frankly every time I hear “D4” I get a little sick to my stomach. I’d rather fingerpaint my morning pancakes with cow dung.
Frankly I don’t think any “true” Diablo fan can be called a “fan” if they approve of D3 or D4.
Because neither of them are even remotely like “Diablo.” They are both just console versions of WoW.

I’m going to hold out for a while, maybe wait until the price drops. The only thing I’m really interested in is the storyline, which I can experience at any time. From what I experienced with the beta, the play of the game feels like they put D2, D3 and WoW in a blender and hit the PUREE button. So gameplay wise, it isn’t really scratching an itch that I can’t already scratch.
Waiting a while has it’s perks… I don’t have to deal with the immediate post-launch issues. Plus any bugs will probably be ironed out by the time I do buy it. The game and GPU drivers will also be better optimized.
I am seriously thinking about it even when i have that version where you can play sooner. But its tough, if it will be very good i dont want to lose opportunity to to start with others you know?
I saw in the news that Blizzard is likely going to lose many employees, some of which are on the D4 team with the post-pandemic Return To Office order being enforced come July. Not a good sign.

Diablo 4 has nothing to do with Diablo 2
Diablo 4 is basically Diablo 3 enhanced edition
better graphics , better itemization, better build crafting
but still a Diablo 3 based game

People seriously need to stop with the D2 and D4 posts. D4 IS NOT D2 and D5, D6, etc. will NOT BE LIKE D2. Get over it. D2 is 20+ years old. Times have changed. Gamers have changed. Be happy they made a D2:R.
So funny how people whine and cry when a brand new Diablo game isn’t similar to a 20+ year old video game LMAO

I’ve been a fan of the series since D1 and plan to buy/play D4, but not for a while. I’m gonna wait a few months until a lot of the kinks get worked out and it goes on sale. I have no idea how much sticking power it will have with me, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
D3 didn’t have any sticking power with me, but I don’t regret buying/playing it at all. I enjoyed it honestly, just not so much the replay-ability or “end game” aspect of it. If that’s all I get out of D4 I’ll be satisfied, more would just be bonus. A game doesn’t have to become a way of life for me to enjoy it or find it worthwhile.
Diablo 4 will kill Diablo 2 once and for all.
Rest in peace D2R, see you in hell.
