no, i’ve got blue rings with “cannot be frozen” as early as act 1 normal. i never keep them becuase they get replaced with much better stuff later, but i’ve found them that early on blues. it’s available as part of the arctic set as early as lvl 2, and the belt from the death’s touch set at lvl 6.
Truth I forgot about set items it is also on full Hsarus, but I still dont think it is on Magic/rares. Half the frozen time is.
duriel is a real problem for new players.
- make sure you are high enough in level. duriel is 22 in normal 55 in nm and 88 in hell so you want to be sure you are not a lot lower in level that he is.
2, duriel has a nasty cold attack so make sure your cold res is as close to 75 as possible. if your gear sucks buy some yellow flasks from that old guy just to the west of fara.
3 equip gear that gives you faster attack speed so that duriel has to recover from your attacks more often.
4 equip gear that gives you better hit recovery as duriel has a stunning attack. if you let him slap you around so you cant recover you will die fast. - click on the character icon and hover your mouse over the attack skill you are using on duriel. it should give you a % chance of hitting duriel. if thats like 25% or something that really sucks and you need to improve your attack rating to at least 60%.
- be sure your doing enough damage to finish the job. should have about 200 weapons damage for normal, 800 for NM and 2000 for hell. rough estimates by me but just about there.
- use the merc in act 2 with the defiance aura. that will give you and he a big boost to defense.
- when you go in cast a tp immediately in duriels sanctuary so you can get out fast if your in trouble. you can go back to lut gholein to heal but duriel cant. finish him off slow if you have to.
9 if you can find a weapon with crushing blow then use it as it takes a % of life instead of reducing HP. If you are playing a sork then use static field as it also takes a % of life. in nm and hell this skill is less effective but in normal you can practically kill duriel with this alone.

Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
I play barb and barb only. Duriel isn’t the hard one to kill in all difficulties.
First, you need to counter frozen. Any equipment that helps with half-frozen time or can not be frozen should be carried with you.
For barb, double swing skill is enough to kill duriel for the normal difficulty. Some howl skill that reduce her damage and defense is highly welcomed. Weapons with poison or fire damage could help a lot. Any item with crushing blow property could help.

Start an offline character. You can use a character editor to re-create what you have in your online character, and use it to check Act 2 as completed. Then you can carry on in Act 3.
Or create a new charm, add “Cannot be frozen,” +cold resist, and any other stats you need to beat Duriel. Sell or toss that charm afterwards if you want.

Another healthy lesson in life you can learn is that there are battles in life you can’t skip.

is this on norm diff? Are you playing on HC? or softcore? What level i cant understand why some peeps have such a hard time vs this boss are they just not leveling there character up or going in nakid or what?
I always hated duriel. Especially in D2R, with the load screens, I was literally dead with sorc, by the time the game loaded. So I ressed the merc time after time so at least he tanks until I load, then I can have some fighting chance.
Duriel gets easier in NM and Hell, as the char gets more developed imo.
Also, that’s trash gear sorc. with javazon, the fight is suprisingly trivial, I could just facetank him.
Hes like super easy as a Sorc I mean yeah the load screen sucks but Act 2 Merc Tank fire wall = GG in seconds. level 1 firewall bro.

Do you have trouble killing Duriel cause it’s the only one boss have loading screen then die before it end?? I know then player who play on Xbox One and PS4 have this issue. I hate comment who tell stupid sentense, learn to play, cmon be little more gentle.

If not, get a stealth armor, nadir sword, basic cold res gear you can shop for, pump some thawing potions, and dury dies easy.

it seems the OP is a true first time player who is just starting out, man. duriel is the first hard check in the game. you can’t just face-tank him in white gear with a naked merc unless you spend the time to grind several levels, and his chamber is too small hit and run without doing jumping jacks through portals. you also can’t avoid him, at all. duriel WILL close with you, and he hits fast.
yeah, the easiest way to beat him is to keep him in hit recovery and slap him around, but that’s not easy for new players who are still learning the mechanics of the game. especially since duriel’s behavior is vastly different from everything you face before him.

I had issues in the begging before I got gear so all I could do was just make a game like “Kill Duriel NM” or “Kill Duriel Hell” and just wait for people to join and just accept the fact you likely won’t get loot since the controller people will get it before you see it but at least then the quest will be complete and you can move on.
even if you could bypass duriel you would eventually run into some other monster you couldnt defeat and would need to bypass. even it it were possible how many times would you need to do this to get to your precious cows?
I just killed Duriel with a level 19 Barb using Double Swing. I haven’t found the Death Sash yet so was frozen while swinging and still didn’t die. Don’t run around. Just stand there and hit. If you are playing a Barb you might want to use Concentration. Frankly I wasn’t prepared at all and didn’t chug any potions. I was wearing Twitchthroe, Angelic Sickle (with bonus from amulet and two rings) and Gleamscythe.
