This game eats memory and eventually it uses 100% of it and your PC cannot handle it and the game closes. Especially when using an assassin with dual mosaic.
I play this game on 4k settings (Or as much as the game will allow to get to 4k)
Here are my system specs so you cannot say it’s my system Asus Tuff Gaming Z690 plus WIFI (DDR5) 64GB DDR5 6400MT/s 32 CL (2x32GB) Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 AIO i9 13900k @ 5.2 ghz RTX 3090ti (FE) Samsung Odyssey 28" 4k 144hz An actual fiber optic internet (not the cox/comcast/verizon Fios crap (But an actual fiber The one with glass in the wire)
I’ve been monitoring the RAM usage and here is what happens.
When I first launch the game the RAM usage is only about 8-9GB. After playing for 1 hour the ram usage increases to 15GB after 2 hours it increases to 19GB after 3 hours it increases to just over 25GB.
The RAM usage just keeps increasing no matter what, so regardless of what system you have, the RAM usage will eventually reach 100% and close the game
RandyBoggs, long time no see. How you doing, buddy?
Ok, based upon your homework, don’t play MosaicSin for longer than 3 hours without a quick relaunch of the game. Or play any other build and extend the amount of time you can play before a game relaunch.
Memory leaks are indeed a problem. Programmers aren’t perfect, so neither are the programs. There’s two things the user can do, get more RAM and eventually restart the program.
All I did was explain why the game is crashing for people because it’s something I found out and people are still having the game close/crash, so if they know it’s not their fault they might feel better.
I had to use a older and smaller laptop charger for my laptop and normally it’s perfectly fine but the moment mosaic assasin starts joining games my old laptop charger doesn’t keep up and the laptop goes into using the actual laptop battery. Only happens with mosaic assassins or maybe a bunch of summon necros/druids together too but basically just the mosaic assassin ruins the game for me
The point to this topic was to say I managed to figure out why this was happening.
Moscaic is beyond obnoxious so when I’m using it I make sure to pause attacking for a few seconds every couple of attacks so it kind of resets the screen which stops the game from closing.
For this to be happening on someone with my computer specs is a problem and we can all agree it’s annoying. I just found it interesting and wanted to share my findings
TBH this whole incident reminds me of the packet loss issue in Frigid Highlands upon killing Shenk!
This is maniacally too courteous to the programmers. D2R is a slopfest of coding. It’s the epitome of a AAA studio releasing unoptimized graphics. Most games of this same performance quality would still be considered in an alpha state.
I’m positive D2:R was rushed in order to meet the 20 year anniversary delivery deadline. Plus the game creation queue/server fiasco at the beginning that delayed the start of ladder seasons for what, a year after release?
Sure, work gets done faster the more hands you have on the project, but there’s also more of a chance for sloppy work, due to communication errors, incompetence, etc. Sure there are ways to avoid issues, such as everyone following a set of guidelines, having work double checked, at the cost of taking more time. Then on top of that, they were dealing with whatever programming nuances that were prevalent with the developers of Blizzard North from 20+ years ago. It’s no secret the OG was rushed.
Regardless of what everyone’s reply is, the fact is this game has been out long enough now and with all the bug reports and people’s findings, Blizzard can fix the problems at this point.
Yeah well there’s one little problem… D2:R doesn’t generate revenue anymore. In Blizzards opinion, the game is playable. Where does that put D2:R on Blizzards priority list? At the very bottom. Shareholders and CEOs like making money, and that’s what largely dictates the direction of a publicly traded company. Sad, but true.
Of course it’s a problem and why blizzard wont do anything. I was just saying that because it’s true blizzard absolutely can do something about it, but we all know if they haven’t by now, they won’t.
How do we fix this? I would like to go back to simultaneously playing all 4 of my accounts that I paid for, and was actively using without breaching any terms and conditions.
