Actually it worked few hours and now i crashed again…
Haven’t found a way to fix it yet? I’ve been gone playing new world because of this problem I came back today to see if my computer would still restart, it’s happened twice in quick succession of each other for absolutely no reason.
My temps are legit like room temperature and my fps has been limited to 60 at all times all settings on low just to see if it made a difference. It’s game breaking for me.
Still not finding way to play this game without pc crashes…
OCCT running well on every test. New world is fine too.
I used to crash sometimes right after entering queue to log in, sometimes in game, and sometimes after the game is closed.
I already reinstalled the game and tested with low settings… please if someone find what to do …
Hi,
just bought Diablo 2 Ressurrected and have the same issue.
PC suddenly shuts off and restarts itself.
Had also contact with the support no solution yet :(.
PC is fine and healty, has enough horse power and carrots, including a nice air condition.
I checked my PC several times (software, hardware, driver). No issues found. Other games, way mor needy ones, run fine without any issue.
The Diablo 2 folder contains a log file (“blz-log.txt”) this contains some errors, though I’m no Gamedesigner/Programmer so I don’t know if they can cause (on the long run) such issues.
There a entries like:
[TerrainStampComponent/4] [<>:0]: Stamp with no terrain biome
[Texture/4] [<>:0]: The texture array data/hd/env/texture/act1/outdoors/act1_outdoors_stonewalls/act1_outdoors_stonewall_l_wall01_b_nrm.texture was deleted before it finished loading
[Render/4] [<>:0]: Mesh vertex format is invalid. Filename: ‘data/hd/objects/shrines_other/deer_shrine/model/fx_cloth_lod1.model’, Mesh: ‘deer_shrine_tarpShape’
Maybe they are a hint of what is causing it.
For me it seems it happens if the game tries to load something but runs into an error.
For now I can not play the game because of this issue.
Hope there will be some notice or better a patch that solves the issue.
Hi,
thanks to support I may have found the issue for my restart issue. Need some testing though. Hopefully I don’t jinx it.
In short:
I think it wasn’t the GPU that was instable but the CPU. And not even the entire CPU but one specific core.
So the problem occured maybe when windows moved Diablo 2 to this core and the voltage of that core wasn’t enough (WHEA-Error), hence Shuttoff + Restart.
I’m testing if this solution works for me in long term.
Its curious that Diablo 2 is the only game that ever happend, but well it’s pure chance of specific core, clock of this core and its voltage at that time.
In long:
So I had radnom restarts without any indications why. In the course of finding the culprit, it was suggested “maybe the systems gets instable”.
So again I tried several stress tests and nothing, it was rock solid. I even tried to underclock / undervolt my GPU to make it more stable.
So I tried with undervoltage and run the 3DMark Stress test. And at some point i got a blackscreen but no shutoff+reboot, as the LED in the PC where still on.
So the crash behaviour was different, as no shutoff occured, thats when I thougt maybe it isn’t the GPU thats unstable but the CPU.
I had testet the CPU beforehand with Prime95 and Cinebench severl times, without any problems. As the Ryzen 7 5800X CPU runs hotter than other CPUs, but still in spec, it is often recommended to slightly undervolt the CPU. Which really worked wonders for me.
So I settled for a slight undervoltage for my CPU, after testing the stability every time via a stress test. And it worked great so far, no issues at all in any game till Diablo 2.
After the idea of the CPU not beeing entirely stable popped into my mind, I reduced the undervolting just slightly.
Yesterday evening I was able to run Diablo 2 without any crash / restart. It needs more testing though if it really was an unstable CPU core. Hopefully I havent jinxed it :).
I will report I this solution worked for me or not.
Even if the solution worked for me it may not be the solution for everyone.
Hi,
so far no crashes / restarts any more. Hope it keeps working .
Thanks THELAIN for sharing your experience, personnaly my issues started with d2r and After few days I have now random crashes even without using d2r. Was it same for you ? Or crash only with d2r ?
Thanks
sounds like a GPU issue and not a game issue, I know the 3xxx series have some serious issues with heat, and d2r drives up the heat pretty good
Hi PouleGéante,
I had no crashes, only in d2r.
My PC is relativly new (March 2021).
As I built it myself I configured and tested it myself. While testing the PC after building it, I had some crashed, but only at stress testing it with cinebench. This was, for me, related to my undervolted cpu.
Background of undervolting / or why it is sometimes possible,
is that not every chip is the same (also called the silicon lottery) and the manufactures choose a covering voltage so it is chips runs stable. (Some chips need more voltage, some less to be stable)
I can’t say if the issues you have are related to the same.
The list of possible culprits is quite large, I checked nearly everthing and discovering my specific issue was obersvation with luck.
The easiest way is to first check system health, which I do reguarly … an Windows update caused severe issues for me some time, as it damaged my system files.
in cmd or powershell (administative privileges required) the command(s) would be:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannow (this scans the system files for errors)
which was also one of the answers I received from support:
Then I assume check the system with stress testing cpu, gpu and combined.
A memory Check would also be good.
Are there BlueScreens, or does the PC just shut off?
If there are dump files available the culprit may be hinted there.
For my PC I don’t have temperature issues, or better I made sure I won’t have them.
CPU AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (which runs normaly pretty hot, with undervolting it is ok even in stress test).
GPU AMD RX 6900X (max. temperatures I have seen so far are around 70 °C, so all ok)
PSU 1500W so no limitations here
Hello everyone,
I had the issue of hard crash and restarts my PC but now I found a way on my own to fixed it and hopefully this will help to fix yours.
I went to bios and changed the voltage to auto, after doing that I am not experiencing any hard crash or PC Shutdown while gaming in diablo. It seems like the game draw more power.
Hope this will fix some of you diablo 2 remastered issues and have a happy gaming!
OMG Dimiourgos, it worked for me.
Honestly i was losing any hope to play again.
Seems to be a Ryzen Issue (got 3600)
I set the cpu core voltage to 1,3 and the second voltage thing to 1,1 cause it was close to the voltage in the BIOS, not sure if its the best voltage choice but it works well now.
THX YOU !!
thx you for your help, I repaired windows system files with your link, but now its fine lowering the core voltage.
Had no bluescreens, just pc reboot…
what a huge thing to fix, I changed my psu and motherboard for nothing. but no more crashes now
Glad to hear, Happy Gaming!
In the BIOS
U mean u set the voltage on auto
Or you choose a lower voltage below the auto settings
Set the voltage to auto, for some reason there are part of the game that will draw more power our system.
Glad to hear that its working for you now
