Fix the base shields for the runeword spirit

no one is saying anything against having advantages and disadvantages. but this should be properly considered. otherwise it just ends as with the mercs, where you only use a2 merc, a3 are useless and a1 for a 1 in a million niche build. as it is now, they could have just scrubbed those others. that is not how it should be. if the advantages/disadvantages are so out of balances you just end up killing all alternatives. kinda reminds me of when smash brothers had bayonetta or meta knight completely overpowered. everyone just used them in tournaments until they got banned.

Spirit is one from 3 things what should be immediately nerfed in D2R.

  1. Spirit - lvl req 50+,
  2. Teleport - double mana cost increase per cast and additional 2 mana per each yard,
  3. Synergies - capped at 20 points MAX per each skill.

Or… maybe you’re the thing you call others. Maybe its WAI. Good day.

And the skies are blue. What does that have to do with his argument?

If any paladin shields can have 4 sockets, then all other shields should too.

hammerdins have the good life. ez spirit with up to 35 base res , so much earlier too.
on top of never needing an infinity.

You fail to understand that its both sword and shield rune word. And required level is based on highest rune.

Seems fine to me…

50’s is mid game. Pally gets it earlier on a class specific item.

I wouldn’t want spirit to be much easier to obtain because it is so strong.
What IF the monarch shield had its level requirement dropped to 40 BUT could also get 5 sockets instead of 4(with the runeword still the same). This would allow for spirits lower, while also making them harder to find a proper base for. resulting in a bit more scarcity, because you cant just lazurk your white monarch and throw some cheapo runes in it anymore.

Though I do kinda feel like there should be some middle-ground. possibly something that adds basically just +1-2 to all skills, +10-15% FCR, and like 50-100 mana, with no form of elemental resistances… for something who’s highest rune is like a sol(27) That way you can choose between an ancients pledge for survivability or an offensive shield for damage if your build allows it.

It’s clear from all the threads on this forum that people want everything to be easier.

  • Higher droprates (Usually camuflaged as Players /X, but also as a flat out request)
  • Buffs instead of nerfs
  • Earlier and easier access to strong runewords (This thread)
  • Removed immunities
  • Free respecialization

This game is doomed.

You don’t understand… Paladin master race. Blizzard North made the paladin so OP that no other class truly compete with it. It can do everything in the game and often do it much better than other classes that are more niche and should be better at that one thing… but no.

Yep, spirit shield should need a ber or a jah in it, to match its power with its level requirement.

no one uses spirit sword unless you’re poor. Hoto is by far a better weapon and not that hard to make. Spirit shield is OP AF and needs to be nerfed with higher runes, like cham and zod - runes that arent used in many runewords presently

Dear god, why not just ask for a screen that says “congrats you win the whole game! heres the most uber gear and level 99 of all classes! you did it you special little snowflake! we love you” - blizzard

HDin sunergies capped to 20 from 40.

Easier to balance skills cuz skills would get only one synergie; no more cookie cutter sh… cuz player could put pts in preffered synergie; more synergies could be added cuz of cap.

I would suggest that you reread his entire post. You are making a general statement that it’s out of context from the core of op main argument.

I believe the runeword you suggest already exists. It’s called splendor

Splendor hits at lvl 37, which isn’t too bad for a +1 to all skills. That’s about start of Nightmare for most chars. It takes a Lum.

Spirit starting at 54 is respectable for the level, but the runes involves don’t even equal a Lum.

All in all Splendor is vastly overpriced for it’s gain and while spirit is obviously the better option. Splendor has a few niche places it’s good like Necy shrunken heads, but the cost of Lum…might as well go for the Spirit.

It would make more sense for Spirit to have the Lum and Splendor to use the Amn…But no one here wants balance…
