I am having the same issue. Over 4 hours now, and some people are reporting having this for over 15 hours. In addition when it happened to me it rolled me back and i lost a level.

Please reset bnet, and set auto log out timers for all characters… or KICK them when the user logs back in!!

Character in game for last 13 hours what a s#1t show I hate everyone

-Log into Battle.Net
-Look at my “Online” character selection screen.
-Click on Play for my level 24 sorceress.
-Receive popup error “Failed to Enter game. This character is already in a game on the server. Please try again.”
-Press OK.
-Click play again “An issue occurred while communicating with the game servers. Please check that you are connected to the internet and try again”
-Wait a couple seconds and it error cycles back to “Failed to Enter game. This character is already in a game on the server. Please try again”
My brother and I cannot play for 9 hours straight because of this error.
At very least you could engage and communicate what problems and solutions are been worked right now.

I’ve been locked out for 14 hours now here guys…
I don’t get how this is still an issue. I’ve seen this sort of error before in other games, but they were all smart enough to build in something to disconnect you after a certain amount of time being inactive. This isn’t a new problem OR a new solution.
Unlike old Diablo 2, you don’t need to have your character sit around in a game to “perm” them, nor do you need to have someone sit around in a game to hold it open while you transfer items. I can’t think of any reason why someone should be able to, or even want to, have their character sit in a game doing nothing for over 12 hours.
Same here. Char been stuck for hours now. Can’t even create a new one to play online with it.

Same issue - I’ve barely been able to play at all since launch. This is the worst Blizzard product release since the original D2 and that’s saying something - clearly 20 years time has taught us nothing. Online multiplayer is currently a day 0 unplayable pile of garbage.
This is what happens when your focus shifts from investing in staffing and infrastructure to kowtowing to China and 5th generation warfare proponents.
Its so nice, that i cant play my “new” game…

Same issue here. Played until 3am EST, went to sleep came back at 9:00am and failed to enter game this character is already in a game on the server…
Really doesn’t make any sense. Can we get this looked after. Wasting my vacation days to play this game and cant even log on.
It been 13 hours and my char is stuck in a game!!! It seems to be a common problem but not common enough for blizzard to care/fix. Took time off work and made plans to play launch and only played about 3 hours while the rest of time servers have either been down or holding my char hostage in an imaginary never ending game…
Same this happened with me. Going on 13 hours and character has been in the same game. Happened to 5 out of 8 in our group. Everyone is still stuck with the same issue. Kind of strange they dont reset their servers.
