Basically when you used the cube recipe to add sockets to any armor, the ethereal armor bonus would double. So you could have crazy amounts of defense on ethereal items. This also made it a cool high end trading item, because you would make rune words out of these for mercs and eth player items like vortex shield (exile).
The thing is, it’s a bug. It wasn’t designed to be like this. But it has remained forever. Some people seem to be clamoring about additional bug fixes. But I want all that stuff to remain.
I am not, bugs should be fixed. Just because they were ignored for years doesnt mean they should stay.
I agree that some bugs are not that important but others are pretty nasty. Like for example poison vipers who are bugged in act 5. Dealing incredible amount of not intended damage.
They’re probably changing that, though.
I don’t think they should change drop chances just because some of them are bugs.
It would create a situation where all the drop calculators for this game are wrong. No thanks.
Plus, changing the drop rates means people who are hunting their grail (like me) wouldn’t be hunting the same grail…it’s different if they change drop rates, which is what fixing all bugs would do.
What do you mean by that exactly? What is bugged about drop rate? Only thing I remember is act boss quest bug, which exist only on battle net and Andariel quest drop bug. Is there anything else? Fixing that really is not that big deal.
You can Qbug all the act bosses, and yes, if you remove this bug, it changes drop rates, making certain items less attainable from some monsters and more from others, comparatively.
This would change core gameplay more than most of the proposed changes we’ve been discussing on the forum, and there are countless bugs, like Ebugging as well, if we changed them all we start to change values on etheral armor, etc.
I think it’s much better to leave itemization as is.
I agree that drop rates shoudl probably not be touched.
About Quest bug, you can quest bug bosses only on multiplayer. It doesnt work in single player(except andariel but thats different kind of bug). Also its hardly big deal anyway, its not so significant change. Act bosses are not being hunted for most of top items anyway. area 85 locations are key target for best uniques and sets.
It’s a massive change for some of the best items in the game. In some instances Qdrop is is around 4 times as likely to drop specific BiS items. Even on some of the most common, sought after uniques like shako, Qbugging Mephisto is an amazing drop, compared to the 2nd best drop in the game.
Less chance to drop = better in my opinon. It makes items more rare and valuable. Its not good to have 4x better chance by exploting bug. I didnt know its that much 4x. In that case it should be fixed.
Yeah, everyone has their own opinion on things like these, but I’m glad they’ve stated their opposition to changing things like this. I think they made the right decision. I think it would change the game too much tbh.
Where exactly did they say that they are not fixing bugs? I believe they said that they are not touching caps for FCR and stuff like that. I dont remember anything about bugs.
There were a few videos they talked about leaving most of the bugs that effect players in a positive way in the game, and removing the negative ones, likely manaburn bug, probably the snakes, and others.
I am curious, is quest boss drop bug really so important to you? Dont you think items would be valued more by players if such explot/bug would not be presented. Items drops a lot even without the bug. I play mostly single player last 8 years and I occasinaly do tournament in single player with few others and I can tell you that players even without bugs find most of the items in just 2 months.
So, here’s the thing.
Yes, qbugging is a big part of my gameplay.
With a shorter ladder season, we need every advantage we can get when it comes to certain items.
It’s not about a competitive edge vs other players, it’s more a case of it being removed and feeling “well, this isn’t the game I remember”
Stop. This is 100% false. Stop spreading misinformation. It does work in single player and thus you’ve obviously never played the game in single player recently, at least up to some serious end game.
And yes, whether you like it or not, they are keeping these bugs (eth bug and quest bugs which can also be performed on other bosses but in a less practical way btw) and it’s a good thing. As for obviously stupid ones like invisible poison clouds, it will be fixed.
Chaos sanctuary is not exactly best place for runs(its dangerous place) tho unless you already have top gear, enigma hammerdin, infinity for ele characters and what not.
Diablo is there yeah, but he is bonus. He cant drop few rarest unique. I would still like to not have quest bug
