Ok, so your are saying that people who want new graphics and old expirience must be screwed? You want to take away my fun and happynes just because you want some QoL that can be done by modders anytime, and everyone will win. Who are you to decide what is better for everyone? Why do you even think that part of D2 fans can be sacrificed, so only you and your QoL lovers will get sweet new graphics?
People need to watch the deep dives and the Q&As with people like mrllamasc.
They are keeping D2 exactually as it was at the last patch.
The only changes they are going to be doing are shared stash and gold pick up.
There will be no stacking of gems/runes, no charm inventory, no infinite stash, no auction house, no generalised mob levels so everything can anything, dclone will spawn via SoJs (numbers to be confirmed).
The game will be as was, just updated to run graphically to run on modern systems and consoles.
People have to understand the different between a remaster and a remake.
If some people want a remake, what’s the point with this ? This is a remasterd game with better resoulition and graphics.
An Example.
Look the different between a Final Fantasy 7 HD remaster and a remake then you see the different.
If you change a lot of things, you can’t recognize it as the main base game.
Fans wanted a remaster, not a remake. Don’t ask for a remake!
Yes exactly. It’s driving me nuts that fans asked for this “remaster” for years and years and years and Blizzard is giving us the remaster people like me have been whining about wanting forever as explicitly stated by the dev’s and I think a lot of people are getting confused and thinking this should be a reimagined remake.
I think Blizzard decided to go through with this despite currently developing Diablo 4 because it was a remaster. I don’t think they want to be developing and reimagining new systems for Diablo 2 when they have already announced and are working on Diablo 4.
Even with all that said I am still 100% open to QOL features that don’t impact actual gameplay systems. But I am totally against trying to rebalance the game and I think there are way too many domino effects in trying to mess with the crazy weird broken but really fun Diablo 2 meta.
For many years, people have been asking Blizzard for a remaster for Diablo 2.
Now it’s 2021 and finally got to know that it will be a remaster of the game.
But lately, I’ve noticed that some people are starting to come up with strange ideas about changing certain things.
If they start to change things, then this will not be the masterpiece Diablo 2 that the fans have grown up with.
Then we can think that all this talk about a remaster has been wasted.
It uses a fancier graphics engine that rests on top of the original game engine, which is nice since the game will probably feel as close to the original as possible, including very important character mechanics like breakpoints etc.
D2R isnt a real pure remaster however, since we’re already getting changes that are not true to the original.
Shared Stash
Auto-Gold-Pickup
UI Changes
Additional Character Stats Information displayed in-game
New hotkeys for various things
etc.
The auto-gold-pickup is really bad for D2 IMO. (but understandable for the console version)
The Shared stash is a nice feature, despite being a change to the original, I believe it its something we can live with because the benefit of not having to mule all the time is worth the swaying away from the original IMO.
UI (user interface) changes are not fully known yet and things can change, but so far it looks decent.
Additional Character Stats are nice to have, and give peace of mind that your items work and breakpoints are reliably met, where as before you had to calculate stats yourself to determine if you would hit important breakpoints etc. A good addition to the game.
New hotkeys like allowing right-clicking items to move them between the stash, character window and NPC shop windows is a nice addition that will make D2 a more enjoyable experience IMO.
I hope they limit the changes to the stuff we’ve seen at Blizzconline, If they make more changes than the stuff that they said, depending on those changes, I will get a refund lol. I didnt purchase D2R with the hope to have a Re-Envisioning of D2 or a “Remake”, but because they said they are “Remastering” it. They already made changes that are getting very close to crossing the line such as auto-gold-pickup.
I really don’t understand how this is blurring the line to me. The gold just wasn’t that important after awhile so… ehhh… I see it as a big nothing change except for earlier leveling where it’ll be a nice feature imo.
Stuff like stacking of rune/gems, Charm Inventory, etc. I 100% understand the resistance towards because it does, to some degree, alter the tradeoffs within the game. I personally don’t care as I don’t feel that it’ll change my enjoyment of the game but I do, at least, understand it from your point of view on those changes.
Case in point, That’s why there is single player and Open Battle.net. If you want that stuff just play on there. Pure Battle.net should just be that.
It’s like that one question on the poll where people wanted to be able to max lvl a game which is only available to Open Bnet and Single for /set player 8 for diff monsters and higher exp in Pure Bnet. To me, this would kill the whole spirit of the game where pepole join randomly in your game for that 8 man and it’s fun and competitive. Don’t want that, just play single player which is what it seems most peple on D3 do anyway? (I can’t seem to find anyone at least where as in D2 i still can find games being run all the time with people.)
Yeah i don’t know what’s up with the auto-gold pick up. Since items are open to everyone, who ever gets it gets it i guess. I’ve seen arguments that gold isn’t that big of a deal, which it isn’t to a point (till your hireling costs too much, and repairs?) Otherwise the most useful form of it is mainly gambling as you can gamble for sets and unique’s in the gamblers npcs. Which i remember when D2 was new it wasn’t ever really confirmed if that was true with some people claiming it and others not, till an interview on it where (i can’t remember what interview or what staff member) said that yes, you can get Unique’s and sets from the gambling NPC’s for loot. Giving Gold a bit more purpose.
I go all the way back to D1. I remember when D2 was new and river and chaos runs were all you had. When Zon dominated with milti, and sorc dominated with orb.
It was finally complete when LOD came out first version. THAT is exactly where they should have left it. That was D2’s hay day. When people loved it and played it the most. Any deviation from that is what cost D2 it’s solid base. The years to come after it was all only down hill from there. And every one who didn’t bot benefited from them by following them in their runs and power leveling. If you ever power leveled, then at some point, many points it was probably a bot making the games. I quit playing when people in PVP rooms started some how changing their block rate and hit rate and dodge rate internally. That was the final nail in the coffin for me. I could care less about bots doing runs, it’s the deep hackers changing how their toon plays in duals that I hate. Oh and hope they can stop map hack, although we all followed them on runs as well. They can see what you have on in duals.
I haven’t played in over a decade. I hope it’s true to form when it comes out.
