I would really like a source for that being the developers intentions. I don’t recall ever reading that they wanted players to have make sacrifices for deciding how to manage inventory.
My take was it was either a technical limitation at the time or just a simple design oversight.
I think they should make changes where it makes sense too. If something is imbalanced or bugged fix it. If something can make the game more fun to play then add it.
Optional loot filter - no problem with that. Depends what you mean exactly.
Charm inventory - A bit of power creep comes with a separate charm inventory, but no big quarrel with this, would be cool and keep inventory space clean for farming. Personally, I’d like it so no identified charm could be in your normal inventory if this charm inventory existed.
Stackable runes/gems - might be odd figuring it out in the cube, such as mass cubing or something, but in the end, sounds good.
Infinite stash - I love pluggy, more stash space is fun. They will probably end up adding more stash space for $$$ though. Hell, I’d pay $5 per additional shared stash page.
Force-move - let it be bound to anything like mouse scroll (I do this in D3 and love it).
Nothing here significantly changes the game. Just saves on space. Limiting space has always been more of a solution to server size, no game designer would want to purposely give you less space to hold loot, in a loot based game.
Both, charm inventory and stackable items change your inventory space (at least temporarily). And inventory space clearly is a ressource you have to deal with in D2
In regards to Inventory and/or Stash space, it has always been Blizzard’s view for players to decide what to pick up and what to leave on the ground. This goes back to D1 and Blizzard North. They said it again during D2, although I don’t remember the word “sacrifice” being used.
I cannot link you to a source because many of those posts have been removed. Maybe someone with better search skills can find something.
Don’t know, if they said something about the inventory tetris, but at least David Brevik is a fan of limited resources (even in the stash):
I think, this implies, that they especially also wanted a very limited inventory. Freely interpreted, I think the underlying idea is, to give the game authenticity and inconveniences, the player has to deal with, which inventory tetris is part of. Probably some people here interpret this differently I guess.
I would consider stackable runes/gems simply because I have had one entire mule ACCOUNT dedicated to them at one point in my life. Could I have gotten rid of some of them? Absolutely! But I’m a hoarder. Not a fan of a charm inventory or loot filter though.
I don’t care where it’s stackable. I wouldn’t hog up my precious bag space with them lol! But yea, I agree that it’s very unlikely, but I wouldn’t mind.
Nah. I was being polite toward you, but you don’t deserve it. You keep downplaying the situation and saying the same things to those who disagree with you. Change your broken record and open yourself to new possibilities. Spread your negativity elsewhere. Good luck!
i bought the game and ill be playing the game for the community. the original has very low population if you take out all the bots. i also wouldn’t mind the graphics being upgraded.
It’s not a remake, it’s a remaster. Big difference. And yes, it should be true to the game as it is now as that’s what a remaster is. This is not Diablo 2.5.
So is stash space.
But it didn’t stop them from giving us a shared stash.
Stacking runes/gems and a charm inventory are going into exactly the same QoL direction as a shared stash and are perfectly fine.
They can give 100% purists the option to deactivate it in the menu - just like with shared stash, auto gold pickup and better graphics.
I am completely against any balance, droprate or core gameplay changes, but some QoL changes and bugfixes won’t break the immersion of an authentic D2 experience.
There is.
It’s called Horadric Cube + Town Portal.
For all I care be nitpicky and cut the 4 slots for the cube from the charm inventory, but the reality is, that many people run a full charm inventory - no matter if PvM or PvP.
No, because you won’t go back to town for everything. And you shouldn’t. The math shows, that you will make more currency (runes), if you fly through the game and only pick up really good stuff, instead of using a lot of time, going to town and vendoring, sorting all your stuff.
It’s different with the stash, as muling does cost you time, while not being out of town, farming.
