Do we really want a pure remake?

yes plz XD, i mean i main druid so it really doesn’t affect me but… yeah during classic rush… HOPE YOU GOT YOUR LOOT FROM DIABLO, case games ganna close.
terrible…

It definitely effects the balance if you’re magic finding.

The whole essence of balancing your gearing for MF revolves around finding an effective balance between DPS and MF, while still have enough room in your inventory to pick items up. Both in gear and charms.

So if you don’t have to worry about any of that then it does effect balance and how your character interacts with the rest of Sanctuary.

thank you for saying what I wanted to say

Small imperfections that don’t hurt the core game. That’s it. Nothing more. Y’all need to suck it up and prepare for Hell to return or there’s always d3 for you. (;

umm, not really,?
if you are at the point where u HAVE a full inventory with of charms you would need… on a mf char… your NOT at the point where you are going to be finding “usable” items to pick up in a greater quantity that would fit in your cube, before u go to town again

I think you’re seeing it under the context of only playing by yourself and that’s not what the D2R release is about.

Be ready for the Bnet slurp, and if you’re not… well they’re not going to roll that item off for you. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is a major essence of Bnet if you forgot.

yeah i understand early in the game with multiple players in a part you need more inventory space to pick up stuff. but in such cases… you don’t even HAVE charms with filling it with, your not going to HAVE 7 mf sc’s or skillers on your mf char in the senario where you are early game fighting for loot with other players.
your “scenario” where “charms inventory affects balance” doesn’t exist

you either need more space to pick up gear because your gear sucks, and you dont have any decent charms becuase your not spending money on charms becuase u dont even have gear, and any chars u find will be trash

or you have a full inventory of charms but i dont need to pick up almost anything
, aka your not grabbing IK mauls or tals masks, your looking for 4 soc archon plates and shakos.

the scenario your saying that “i have my inventory filled with charms and i need to pick up a ton of loot” in a way where that affects “balance”… just doesn’t exist.

the only scenario this exists is where you are NOT mfing… are NOT using an MF char and u have full gear slots playing normally in a group doing runs, in which case if a hr drops you don’t want to have to be slow on the click to pick it up… which is the scenario as to WHY we need a charm inventory in the first place.
aka there is absolutely ZERO scenarios where charm inventory will affect “balance”… which was your point

I think you might just be seeing how you would be using it and not all the scenarios that someone could be using them in.

I’ve seen 8 man HC teams have a light sorc slurp a Griffon’s Eye off an endgame baal run, where the jav zon definitely needed it. If that zon is running all skillers, then that extra split second to open their inventory could be the difference between a Griffon’s.

While on the other hand, sure the zon might have higher dps from the skillers but goodbye Griffons. So the balance choice in this scenario is dps vs inventory.

ok and thats affects “balance”? how? that scenario is literally the reason WHY we should have a designated charm inventory. its not affecting “balance” its affecting “quality of life”

These decisions effect a games overall sheet damage for all situations, and some situations more so than others. It’s not big, maybe 500-2000 sheet damage or 42 mf, but that literally the game that’s live on Bnet right now.

Before the only reason someone would ever run full charms was on pvp characters camped in act 1 or mf characters when you were by yourself. Now with mod support you can in theory just play the game modded.

There are no must haves.
You can have scrolls in the belt, the cube in the stash and a whole inventory full of charms.

That’s actually how every PvP player does it :woman_shrugging:

Charm inventory makes no sense to be included in the remaster. I run all my chars with their inventories full of charms to make them more powerful but the trade off is that I can’t pick anything up quickly. I need to tp back to town, drop some charms in stash, go back, grab item, then come back and swap the charms back in. That’s the trade off that people have been talking about here and that’s what makes it interesting. Having a dedicated charm inventory and then an unlimited inventory and stash completely changes the game. You may enjoy the PlugY mod, but sorry, that’s not the core Diablo 2 experience that most of us know and love. It’s something else entirely and it has no place in this remaster. I’m sure that mod developers will release similar mods for this before long for the people out there who want this stuff.

then dont carry so many charms,

its rather simple. you make sacrifices,

I can understand the argument for charm inventory. However I am all for it. But in the sense of stash space - It would be a QoL improvement considering everyone already just makes mule characters for stash space. So adding in stash tabs, stackable runes and jewels, etcetera is only a QoL improvement. Resulting in less lost gear or hassle from having to constantly mule items from one character to another.

I have recently watched some POD and other mod streams, while all the changes seem nice and well done, the game doesnt feel like D2 anymore, just a diffrerent game, more like PoE where you hoard all the stuff to your stash with zero f’s given and pretty much forget they existed after that, i guess thats why is called path of diablo. Im pretty sure there will be eventually mods for remaster too, just play those if you want all the changes.

And charm inventory, the whole idea of charms in D2 its that you have to make sacrifices, its never been about efficiency, same goes for stacking gems/runes.

While changes like stackable gems could sound nice, people have played this game years and years just fine without any of that.

Keep the mods separate from original D2.

Making sacrifices and calculating your next step is what made D2 such a great game. If we removed the micromanaging of the inventory and stash, then it would severely change the nature of D2’s itemization.

yes i want a pure remake. im already mad they added an option to auto pick up gold and shared stash. plz stay true to the game. its what made the game great.

loot filter absolutely not. having to sort through many items is a skill and a part of the game. get good.
charm inventory is a terrible idea. your inventory space is an essential part of how to min/max your stats with sacrificing the ability to pick up items.

infinite stash is a terrible idea. dont make the game easier. inventory tetris actually makes you think about how to place things and keep certain items or just leave them.

anything stackable is a bad idea. makes the game easier and doesn’t stay true to the original.

i have to vehemently disagree and the answer to your QOL features is get good bro

mules are actually fun. its a part of the game. xfering adds an element of risk

If you have stackable Runes and Gems, why would you need infinite Stash?

The current Stash for D2:R has 1 Personal Stash Tab and 3 Shared Stash Tabs. There are 60 Slots on each Tab. There are a total of 33 types of Runes. There are 7 types of Gems in 5 qualities. (Well, 6 Gems and then Skulls). But, that’s still a total of 35 “Gems”, including the Skulls.

With stackable Runes and Gems you could store ALL Runes and Gems on 1 Shared Stash Tab with 8 Slots used on a 2nd Shared Stash Tab. (Or 68 Slots). The rest of the Stash, both Shared and Personal could be used to store Charms you may need later or Jewels and other items.

(Just sayin’)

I think they want to collect all sets and every unique item and keep them. I personally dont need that at all.
