A better option then would be to change what it does. Remove the unique effect entirely and turn it into something else. Take that unique effect and apply it to a brainstorm on fixing MA skills in the tree. If nothing else, mosaic would have at least gathered good data for making MA stronger without breaking the game in half with it.
The problem is not the rune word, but that the Melee Assa is otherwise no good, but is a maximum burden to play.
The rune word has simply fixed the problem. So if the rune word is removed, then the skill tree of the Assa and the gameplay must be adapted accordingly by a remake, otherwise hardly anyone will be interested in this skill tree.
If this were to be done for the Assassin, it would very quickly lead to other players also wanting other skill trees and classes to be adapted, and rightly so in some cases.
What would be the result?
In the end, it would probably be all OP classes.
I doubt that everything would be toned down, because then even a Javazon or a Lightning Mage would at least have to get off the throne. Youâd also have to think about weakening Teleport, as a RW anyway, and also weakening the Sorc, so that the game doesnât end up being just a single rush.
How would this affect the game if all the worlds were forced to play together more slowly again instead of teleporting through the acts?
Then the game would be played as it was intended.
I am really bothered that the only solution offered to fix a group of skills that offers a unique kind of gameplay is to remove what makes it unique in the first place.
The interesting point of martial arts is the rhythm between charging and discharging.
The biggest negative is block chance, which throws the rhythm off, and the solution isnât to remove charging altogether, but rather to make charging more reliable (typically by allowing the players to get their charge when the opponent blocks).
Thereâs a debate to be had about whether the discharge payoff is sufficiently powerful, but the simple existence of Mosaic makes any improvement on that front impossible. Thatâs a huge negative as to how this single item warps the game balance.
Iâm surprised that this isnât a âDelete Enigma/nerf Teleport REEEEEEEEEE!â thread.
Kek
No one did. MA as bad and that was OK. Mosaic is the type of gameplay a 4-year-old would implement.
Not yet, but theyâll pipe up.
Mosaic, yeah can go, sunders, no.
no, the runeword is the problem, because it enabled these extremely strong single attack abilities hit 20 times a second. the runeword didnt simply remove the burden, it also x20 itâs damage per second. if it didnt activate on every hit of multi-attack abilities like Dragon Talon, then your point would stand.
But as it stands now itâs like Vengeance + Zeal + AOE splash all in one single runeword.
Why no Sunders? They make Blizzard Sorc with Cold Mastery even better starter or only help if you have rare gear. Early play Hammerdin still has advantage. Immunities rework would be better.
how toned down would it need to be for mosiac to be balanced to say a traps build? Iâd say the mistake is making it 50%, 40% would ensure depletion and maintain its effectiveness.
Recently I wanted to go back to the game. Then I remembered why i stopped playing it.
Pls Blizzard remove mosaic. It broke the game.
Mosaic is fine, I use her for kill ubers and I love to have another character not only the smither.
You donât NEED a smiter nor mosaic to beat ubers.
You have no idea what topic is about do you?
That would completely kill mosaic instead of simply nerfing it.
The problem of martial arts is that the acquisition of charges is way too random (and the solution isnât to remove the need to charge). By adding randomness in the discharging process, you actually double the sources of frustration instead of improving the situation.
If they were to go that route, they would be better off simply removing the item entirely.
The build doesnât need to be nerfed to the ground. It simply needs the removal of the unintended ways of multiplying the effects (that is to say, limit the discharges to 1 per finishing move while wearing Mosaic, and limiting the number of charge types that it can save). That way, it would likely stay among the top builds, without causing stability issues, and within a more reasonable frame of power.
Ćringing up the post till next season
It actually didnt fix the problem, it just created an even bigger problem. Yes the skill tree would need a rework but so would many other chars and skill trees if this is the main concern. Mosaic doesnt belong in D2, its a band aid solution and completely ruins the multiplayer experience for many players including myself, its a nightmare in public games and a total eye cancer that seems more like a D3 abomination not to forget the obvious balance and fps issues it causes for the ladder based multiplayer experience and economy. Get rid of that âthingâ and move Cain bact to his old spot in act 5 and ill happily play with what we got now. But nothing is gonna happen anyway cause this game is abandoned by Blizz, besides they no longer have the devs capable of making any changes to this old game
Yet let us not give up. Removing/reworking mosaic is that one change that has to be implemented. I treat this runeword as a bug
Actually I have a level 82 Assassin, I made two Mosaic Suwayyah for her to dual wield, Didnât workâŚSo I made her a sanctuary shield to go with one of the SuwayyahâŚDidnât work so I stole the Phaseblade Lawbringer off of one of my other toons still using the Sanctuary, That did work at least to some extent. Her biggest issues were mobs overwhelming her both regular monsters as well as the ghosts & wraiths who are often physically immune and mana drainers in close. Otherwise, itâs a decent weapon for attackers focusing on speed, as it offers Decrepify mod (somewhat offsetting the lack of Enhanced Damage) and a Sanctuary aura that allows all physical damage dealt by the character to ignore resistance on undead enemies.Physical Immune monsters (which certain melee characters cannot easily deal with) as well as the undead (especially Ghosts and Bone Fetishes). PS This is reply to someone saying why a sword isnât enuff to replace the
attacks that respond to Dragon Talon & Mosaic.
" Doesnât mean a thing if you canât HIT And you canât hit Physically immune
monsters and anymore it ainât just Ghosts & Wraiths a lot of other
monsters turn up with Physical Immune Modâs, Well that doesnât matter
