ruins the game for everyone involved, including the wielder.
How about No? I mean, it’s a single player game. Stop. Go touch some grass.
How about yes. This D3 style designed item with broken effects noise that should never leave test server has no place in D2. Everyone here asked for Martial Arts skill tree improvements, not runeword band-aid.
Same with Sunder Charms. I saw many interesting ideas for immunities rework. Nobody asked for new items as solution for this case.
Single player game that guides you with synergies into single element build then punishes you for it but if you get a teammate with other damage type you have easy time.
Nope. 20 characters.
Remove mosaic. Remove sunders. Make d2 great again. This game is ridiculously easy and should have never been made easier… Clueless developers and frankly most of the players too.
Vicarious Visions devs were great and they really listened with understanding. I loved first updates. Then D3 janitor took over and abandoned the game quickly. Metamorphosis runeword feels clunky too.
While I am part of the single player crowd, please do understand that a significant part of the community plays with others, notably on public games.
While we could debate whether Mosaic is so powerful that its distortion to the game balance requires a rework or not, a build that can cause important framerate drops to other players is in itself a problem that it is reasonable to expect to be fixed.
My last encounter with a mosaic assassin was in the cow level.
I’m running the second fastest cow character in the game (poison necro, 10k poison nova dmg, -88 lower enemy res, and level 40+ corpse explosion).
Myself and a hammerdin splitting off from the mosaic assassin were killing cows together at like 1/8 speed compared to her alone. P8 cows.
As soon as she touches the pack, they’re all dead before my poison nova even reaches them.
Yes remove d3 style items from d2.
Sunders don’t really matter they don’t make much difference.
mosaic should not work with dragon talon and should only hold one charge type at a time.
Well I also think the problem is while this forum had a lot of interesting ideas for the game, most comments from normies on social media like Facebook were mostly spamming about “just add new runewords” and devs probably listened to it too. Social media people completely ignored all issues like rare/unique items being useless or bots all over ladder.
Mosaic is a total gamebreaker for me, but not in the positive sense.
It’s stupidly overpowered and renders all other builds useless. Graphics effects are annoying and obtrusive for other players. I always leave a multiplayer game if a Mosaic is present or joining. I can’t stand this anymore.
Mosaic players are staying under constant stress, because of that 12 second timer. This transfers to the rest of the party.
This build needs two items to shine, it can’t be played comfortably without those two claws. Any other build in this game has some kind of diversity in gear, this one hasn’t.
Diablo 2 has become way too easy in endgame over the years. Why the hell they were adding an item that makes it even more ridiculous?
It just makes NO SENSE AT ALL that this build exists. It is a total fail.
No, because is the best example that the game need no more changes, the mosaic will be the best example of how not to develop any skill.
The problem with mosaic is the same problem with metamorphosis. They’re not expanding within the existing mechanics of the game, which is what oskill and aura runewords did. They’re expanding what mechanics exist within the game. Worse than that, rather than update weak skills that seem to need these expanded mechanics, they’re gatekeeping updated skill effects behind equipment. There’s another game that did this, D3, and it was a game that is diametrically opposed to D2’s build design.
It’s an embarrassment.
I wouldn’t say the issue is that the mechanics are new and limited to items.
The issue is more that these mechanics overpower the normal mechanics so much that they become the only way of playing.
A good way to put new mechanics in items is the way PoE does : simply open up alternative ways of playing.
Here, it would have been limiting charge applications per finishing move to 1, limiting kept charge types to 1, and dividing charge effects by 2 while wearing Mosaic. That way you open up a gameplay where you only discharge, while remaining close to the power range of martial arts. It still would have increased significantly the number of players going for martial arts, without removing the old version of the build.
And I’ll add that my own design philosophy includes making lower level versions of these game-changing items available, so that you can actually start playing your build early, rather than have to change builds at end game.
Yes, it will also reduce the load on their dinosaurs servers.
The mechanic being overpowered is secondary to how they’re implemented. Using items to fix skills is how D3 is designed. D2 would fix the skill itself so that the way a skill functions isn’t 100% reliant on using a specific item.
there’s no one working seriously in the game anymore, and no one is going to. hopes of nerfing mosaic are in vain.
i mean they could start adding microtrashactions. you know blizzard is all about the players (wallets), and not about making fun games.
you cant really “delete” old runewords. they tried that before… they became the"ith" runeword. it just allowed players to make bugged items which turned into hybrid rune-words like lvl 30 infinity and grief
what u can do is make it so you cant make more of them
make it so it doesn’t work in ladder, and is NL only.
kinda the opposite of how things are normally done, but it’s really no different that the 1.08 or these same bugged items in LOD that still exist to this day on NL
