Delete hammerdins

All they need is an insight runeword on the merc and they solo the entire game. They are ruining this 20 year old game and I demand their fun be ruined for my sensibilities.

They don’t even need a runeword and nothing resists their blunt instruments of holy fist pumping, clearly they are overperforming and need to resemble OW2’s playerbase for their sins.

this is a joke, stop whining about mosaic you hypocrites, lol.

Hammerdins don’t cause players computers to crash. If they toned down the screen puke from Mosaic, it wouldn’t be so bad. Mosaic is still overpowered, but yes, so are hammerdins. The true path would have been a rework of the Martial Arts tree, but apparently that was too much work, so they pressed the EZ button with Mosaic.

Yeah, but that’s not a balance issue, that’s a crap optimization issue (that 100% should be fixed.)

I just find the idea of nerfing them silly. If the D2r team was still around, we’d probably see a lot more builds brought up to the lightsorc/hammerdin/mosaic level rather than have mosaic brought down.

Imagine playing a barb and not being a total joke, that’d be something.

Never cared about hammerdins for 20 years, don’t really care about mosaic sins now. Life moves on!

2 solutions for Hammerdins. Either add more magic immunes in every act (maybe at cost of fire immunes, would really hurt Bone Necro) or nerf its damage (and other p8 solo builds) and remove all immunities from white monsters.

The best solution is to make more areas and more difficulties in the game. The game itself is too easy. Add mapping or some actual end game content.

The game being too easy is understandable, it’s been out for a quarter century. People have had plenty of time to figure things out. Maybe it’s time to move on to something else more challenging?

You could also challenge yourself by restricting what type of items you can use… For example, play the game without using any rune words.

There is no good solution…make end game harder only separates cookie cutter/S tier builds from the rest. Add more magic immunes makes bone nec even more trash in pvm… the solution is don’t play cookie cutter builds, you’ll have more fun and difficulty level is properly rightsized…all good argps should have builds with a wide variance of power, skill, attainability so it isn’t an issue to me…

…or play hardcore, no matter what build you choose it should always feel dangerous…

Funny because I’m thinking holy bolt is even more OP. Holy bolt you don’t need an aura. Unlike hammers which disappear once they hit something, holy bolt is 100% pierce. Also you can directly target with holy bolt. True they only work on undead and demons. If this wasn’t bad enough they also heal, and basically cost no mana lol.

If a blessed hammer hits an obstacle like a wall, yes they disappear. However they do not disappear when they hit monsters, they in fact pierce through and can hit multiple monsters, but each hammer can only hit the same monster once.

the only reason i like them is the resists on shields lol

hard to beat as a first fresh ladder character in hardcore

if i play something else i gotta somehow find 40-45 extra all res to put somewhere… yikes.

*not needing any sunder charm is another bonus too nice to pass on.
(and sunder charm is once again more resistance to get)

Every time I try to play one I get bored, lol.

Necro, sorc and assassin, every time.

For ladder starters? Agreed.

I try to play all 7, doesn’t always work out.

For starters, Sorc is “queen”, followed by Assassin and Necro. Pally with a respec is good as well. (zeal+fire aura)

A little bit selfish isn’t it? And how can me soloing Act 5 Hell with my Hammerdin be ruining your game? Why do you care?

I play SSF and never felt like game is too easy. Hell is challenging but maybe I’m casual and you’re pro. Also like others mentioned adding more difficulties would force you even more to use top builds. It would be better to nerf top builds and buff weaker ones like melee or bows.

Just change how tz work. If you opt in TZ, all zones become terrorised, which means that each area gets guest mobs. Keep the increased lvls. Make sure that all zones get a nearly even density and make sure that immunities are limited to 1 per mob, but randomised so every immunity occurs in each zone.

Done

im not sure why we need another mosaic thread, but her

hammerdin in LOD WAS the most op busted thing in the game
and if it wasn’t for sunder charges powering up sorc and some other lod changes like it no longer ignoring immunities, it probably still would be the best build in the game.

mosaic is COMPLETELY busted though… you cannot deny that in any way shape or form

yes its very fun to play. and if it was single player only… sure, but it absolutely does not belong on the realm.

mosaic can clear /p8 as a complete joke, no infinity, no sunder or anything… just stick 2 mosaic and your good to clear max level t zones in an 8 player game,

but thats not even the issue. the issue is the fact that not onyl does it do this sor almost no price… it does so so screenwide and so op… that other players cant even play the game

there is no completing in farming when they have mosiac, no able to even attack an enemy on the same screen, becuase EVERYTHING melts

a properly build mosaic chas been used in modded sinple player to kill over player 400

hammerdin is taking an semi auto rifle to 1850
mosaic is taking a freaking supernova…

its not even a comparison

and that’s just balance wise… ignoring the fact mosaic literally can crash the game of other people and/or yourself if they have their graphics setting set a certain way, or cause seizures.

so yes… while mosiac is very fun, and it makes me love MA again… and it should be playable in some areas

the fact is its just WAY too strong.

instead of it having + elemental damage each claw could have -45% and it would still be crazy.

We are old gamers, your disclaimer at the bottom is in too fine a print! lol

Remove the Concentration synergy on Hammerdin and Blessed Hammer would be balanced. That would also open up other aura uses, potentially providing better party support.
