You heard it right boyz some dude uncovered a way to bring tcp/ip back to as high as d2r patch 2.4… yeah that’s pretty much pre sunder charms and pre “realm of errrroooaaaarrrr” zones…
I generally don’t know how this guy managed to convince blizz to let him do his stuff while monkeying with their stuff… so to speak, so far i haven’t found any means of need to have a proof of owing a legitimate copy of the game b4 running the mod, so for someone that doesn’t own d2r license i think this is still considered piracy… though don’t quote me on this… i don’t know what kind of “devil pacts” this guy made with blizzard, so i might be wrong…
though the facts are that there is an d2r mod build that contains tcp/ip and is based on patch 2.4, so check it out if ya haven’t
When the mod you are enjoying is doing something that could possibly be illegal, and shutdown by blizzard should they notice, ya know posting about it on the official forums might not be the brightest idea.
well, neither players nor devs would know if i hadn’t posted here… truth is sooner or later somebody would post this… and it’s not that i gave the direct link to this, and it doesn’t look like there is a DM message system so that ppl would share this…
Besides if ppl like Llama are involved i this, i highly doubt blizz is unaware of it…
for me it looks as if blizz gave away an old version of the game they had with tcp/ip, so that modding community could flourish, i Highly doubt this was done by modders themselves, as it won’t run on pre AVX systems, even the downloader requires instructions my CPU does not have, if modders did it it would e based on game files with AVX patched as patch 2,4 was the stuff i could already play on vanilla game due to AVX instructions beeing patched…

And supposedly, Blizzard is quite aware of it - there has been a rumor that the mod might be shot down soon.
And a newer one that it migt not, after all.

anyways I’m prety sure now that this stuff is backed up by blizz if it was pure piracy i don’t think Llama would get involved in advertising this… Besides it’s patch 2,4 it’s not like you could join to play battle net games wth this… I’m pretty sure Blizz and the mod creator are in some kind of agreement, and if not then the guy will get what he asked for by releasing stuff without blizz’s consent. although I have suspicions that mod creator is a wise man, and actually managed to secure some kind of agreement with blizz…

This is original 2.4 You even need to download it from blizz servers… simply put remove the additional mod name from the launcher config and U’re done, pure 2,4 with TCP/IP mod…FYI the mod in youtube videos is a separate download…
Blizzard usualy goes only for people who try to monetize something about their game. In old times they didnt care we were running illegaly privare d2 realm. They did care when we were running private wow server tho. Because it ment they were loosing money. Hell some d2 private servers are running to this day.

only thing important is that this forum isn’t just about trolling and more about conversations. people shouldn’t be too sensitive.
i can see why stuff it taken serious, but for cases like this you can always flag or open a ticket. open tickets works wonders, believe me.
