D2R online... Are there bots and maps hacks already?

D2R online… Are there bots and maps hacks already? The 23rd of October will be here shortly bringing us up to about the 1 month mark. So are you guys/gals encounter cheaters, botters, and map hackers? If the answer is yes, then wouldn’t that pour cold water on the idea that the devs could not include the TCP/IP (IPv4 specifically) LAN feature at release due to a possible vulnerability and/or weakness in the battle net platform?

Keep in mind that I purposefully disable IPv6 since I have absolutely no need on my tiny home LAN behind my fire wall, and there is no performance benefit with IPv6. I expect some of you to have no idea what I’m talking about. Go ahead and rub the G o o g l e genie lamp.

I know there is at least one functional bot in beta and I know there is a pickit.

I am unaware of a working maphack at this time.

Someone had posted a link (which I think that they removed as it may not be permissible to post links to even video examples of an exploit) to a YouTube content creator who had a stable map reveal. If I am not mistaken it was someone from China. But, do not quote me on that as I do not know how to read nor write Mandarin nor Cantonese. Within the vid, their character moved about and the exploit responded as if it was a part of D2:R

At the moment that I saw that map reveal vid, I felt torn as one of the handful of the major reasons for moving from legacy to D2:R was to experience a year or more with little to no game exploits.

Yup, there is a confirmed Chinese maphack on the market for a while. People are getting ban left and right last night.

As they should get banned.
How stupid 1 can be thinking they can get away with it.
Risk all the hard work for some money to be gone with a dumb thing like that )
All deserved ban

probably because they risked it back then without repercussions.

its different now that the game has attention on it, obviously.

Maphacks made for noobs, kids and invalids, in 70-80% cases you can find what you need if you know basics of how map generation works and by memorizing some tiles.

yes and some of them have been dealt with. One of my guildmates got banned for botting today. He has another account though that is safe.

“bu-bu-but the seller say I will not get ban” yeah, right… It is call an IQ tax, you pay for your own stupidity.

Ok so since there are maphacks and bots in use in D2R on battle net 2.0 (or 2.0+), the whole idea of withholding TCP/IP LAN (again IPv4) is futile. There is at least one well known map hack utility for D3 and there have been exploits. There was gold duping as well (the whole 2-bees thing). Granted the devs eventually put the smack down on those things in D3 PC, but I believe its more rampant on the consoles. My point still stands. TCP/IP LAN (IPv4) should be available. Let the cheats, hacks, bots, ninja looters, item snipers, and trolls all flock to battle net and the rest of us have a good time away from the lag, queues, and server instability issues.

Why do you even feel like bringing that into the conversation?

“Risked it” lol

If you were smart back then it was hardly a risk. If you kept your finger on the pulse you never got banned.

People will bot this game too because they want to. When I was a kid I did it because it was cool. I was subverting the grind and getting “rich.”

Now though, as a 32 year old fan of Diablo… I appreciate actually finding the stuff for myself and trading. It’s satisfying.

People will bot though. You guys don’t seem to be able to put yourself in their shoes, but it’s not a risk to them because there are ways around the “risk” as you put it. They can fix the game against one bot and a new one will be made. It’s the nature of the beast.

Botting as a kid was good for me though. It introduced me to programming at the age of 12. I don’t regret it, which is another point. People make bots as a hobby. It’s fun.
