Oh no! The Hammerdin Meta! Waaaah, my Hammerdin is now only 84% more powerful than any other class in the game!! Oh NO! Now other classes besides Hammerdin don’t have to worry about any type of immunities for any creature in the game in any difficulty, no matter the number of players!?!?!?!
NOOOOOOOOOO 20 years of the same Meta, RUINED!
Too OP plz nerf. Game dead. End of story. Nobody will ever want to play this game ever again. Never.
I need help! I just went to the store and bought a bunch of cheese to go with all the wine! Can someone help me post the cheese?
I am thinking these posts are from first time players and did not play OG D2! It is the same! The differences are so subtle that the nostalgia is heart warming! I think this was created for the true D2 fans and really takes me back! Please - if you are going to cry - do it in your pillow and not the forum!
Test more harder way =) I play up new Amazon and only i can use is - Blue, Rare items, i have take away - Runewords and Set items, Unique items =) Its nice to look after good rare items or blue =)
I know D2 classic working like this but there is 4 acts only and i think D2 with 4 acts feels so empty!!! Act5 is so Awesome in so maney ways! I cant understand how players can play without that act?
Blizzard needs nerf in damage definetly! That would help game alot and boosting melee builds and for instance making two handed swords and hammers dealing 2x damage they deal now or having cleave effect!
Strange, and here I am thinking that there are a lot less sorceresses than there used to be back in the day. And even more strangely I usually see them doing fire or lightning.
Really don’t understand why someone else having fun would stop you from having fun but hey.
Yall do realize that the more stuff that gets farmed the better for everyone right?
The game is not officially ruined, however I agree it is on a creeping path to such ends.
Serious course correction is required in the next couple of patches. sunder charms either need to be removed, re imagined, or drop rates reduced to the chances of zod. Perhaps some kind of mixture of the three, however I struggle to figure out how that can applied without a milque toast outcome.
I do also believe that a seperate TZ should be added per player that joins.
Players don’t need encouragement to play together as whether that happens depends on the chemistry of the group. Some groups are down with sharing and gearing the whole team, some are competitive.
However, I believe classes and skill balance should be the focus once the charms are adjusted to be less accessible and possibly drop all resistances not just the corresponding resistance.
Everyone’s been grossly overrating the impact of sunder charms in the game. For them to not be an inconvenience, you need even more resistance to overcome the penalty (otheriwse you’re constantly swapping them in and out of your cube whenever you hit a roadblock, which also inconveniences using the cube for other things), as most enemies with an elemental immunity use that element against you. And only the Cold sunder charm has a particularly notciable impact on the game. Sunder charms just take you from “impossible/almost impossible to kill this enemy” to “you can kill it really slowly.”
Any allegations of “ruining the game” grossly overstate the impact of these items. First, you can’t get them with your own power until Hell difficulty, and there are immunities before that, just not nearly as many. Second, it only lowers resistance to 95% and lower resist and Pally’s resistance lowering skill still operate at reduced effectivness (Cold Mastery really should too, that’s the only real issue).
I rolled a HC fire claw druid, traded for a fire charm (they’re so common ppl are basically giving them away though), and when I got to hell act 1, the fire immunes at the start of the game were still a problem. Not because I couldn’t kill them, but because it took more hits to kill them and the shamans in particular did a lot of damage with their fireballs due to the charm.
I suppose that this is mainly a hardcore issue and perhaps the charms are more influential in non-hardcore. But cmon, “ruined the game?” All the builds you used before will still work fine, and will probably be more flexible and not get slowed down as much by immunities, while people who want to brute force a single Sorc or dru tree or what-have-you, sure, they will kill other stuff faster but those former-immuines will still slow them down.
Perhaps that is exactly why they need to stop thinking this game in a 2022 way but more in a “what does the game need to stay balanced and interesting”. Aka stop trying to cater to 18 year olds, but cater to the actual player base, which from experience is 30+ year old nostalgics who have been playing this game for 10+ years (as I have).
Sorc is not the problem, she does have her limitations, but other classes are underperforming. There are some glaring issues they haven’t attempted to fix:
melee builds don’t have any sort of aoe - two handed weapons should attack 3-4 targets per swing, while one handed weapons should have 50% chance of attacking an additional target, applies for all skills - at the moment melee builds are completely garbage at farming terror zones because you need aoe which melee builds lack completely
bowzon is in a very weird state where it is ok for most things, but is outclassed by specific builds for everything (sort of a jack of all trades, master of none) - bow base damage should be buffed significantly, while windforce and faith slightly nerfed so other bows can see some use and make bowzon not completely garbage without one of two bow choices
People are saying other classes don’t compete with sorceress, but necromancer is pretty great given good enough gear. Ele druid could use some tweaking probably (never played it, idk how it performs comparatively to sorc).
Sadly D2R was never better than original. Yes nice graphics but that’s where the improvements stop (more stash space is still so little). Unfortunately if you’re hoping for greater content, play D3 which is a fabulous game in its own right. Hoping D4 will be the true sequel to D2.
Everyone has always started off with sorc because it is the character that can do the best with the least amount of gear. Maybe summon necro as well, but then you don’t have native teleport. Once gear comes into play, almost every character outplays her.
Barbs are the best magic finding character in the game
Paladins can spec into a jack of all trades, or specialize in smiters for ubers
Necro is the best at playing the safest
Amazon is the best at killing large amounts of enemies (cows)
Druids can be a jack of all trades
Sorc is the best with low/no gear
Assassin i honestly don’t know as i have never played one
The point is, every character is good at something. And sorc is good early but falls off hard to the other classes.
The whole cold sorc thing is a stupid argument, because again, lightning and fire sorc still beat out cold sorc even with cold mastery and sunder charm. They just do far more damage. The “problem” is they require more gear than the cold sorc. But again, this is fine, because it makes the game interesting if different specs are good for different things.
