Crashing Constantly with Blue Screens of Death

I understand your frustration and i feel the same way. I do think it’s stil the game partially in combination with local problems mixed into it.
However a blue screen should be your main concern because that is usually not caused by any game. It may be a consequence of a few things which happen to occur while playing Diablo II: Resurrected. I would suggest you investigate those bluescreens because they are a concern.

Hi, I’d like to add my 2 cents to this.

Asus 3090 TUF
9900k @ 5.0Ghz

I’ve been experiencing a REPRODUCABLE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH in which after killing meph, I tp twice to the portal in his area and use telekinesis on his portal and instantly blue screen. I can reproduce this BSOD without fail.

I have done a full reinstall of windows, checked all my drivers, verified the stability of my over clock, removed my overclock and tried with base settings, and I am still met with a reproduceable BSOD. I have not crashed with this blue screen “WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR” in any other test , application, or game I have played. It seems local to D2.

I’m fine with the rebuttal of saying that no software can cause BSODs, but I find it incredibly funny that that I am able to reproduce the error in a single game with a single method over and over again and all customer support can say is that its not their fault, its clearly ours.

The thing is. I have investigated these bluescreens to every end possible. That’s why I had my CPU Voltages, frequencies etc checked out. I have fully checked every possible cause to this particular bluescreen and everything is as they should be.

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR - Issues could be related to such things as hard drives, processor, power supply, bad or corrupted memory (DRAM). It also could be that the device drivers are outdated or corrupted. Another reason could be voltage changes.

All of the above has been thoroughly checked. It is pretty clear at this point that Diablo 2 is pulling the strings somewhere and probably causing chain reaction which then is ending up causing this BSOD, but the trick is to find where. If I had any of the issues mentioned above then my PC would be running into bluescreens in other games aswell. This is the cold fact here.

I play games like: Hunt Showdown, Rainbow six: Siege, Zero Hour, Dark Souls games, Nioh 2, Escape From Tarkov, New World, Call of Duty Modern Warfare (Warzone), Total War: Warhammer 2 / Shogun / etc.
Most of these being far more hardware / OS demanding games than Diablo 2, and yet I have never had crashes or bluescreens in these games. With due all respect if my OS or any of the above, was the problem then I would have experienced these issues long before this game. A lot of those games are very unstable and any error in drivers, BIOS or system files would have popped up already.

This BSOD is tied to Diablo 2: Resurrected only, nothing else on my PC is able to cause this one as of yet. This BSOD happen after I’ve played few hours of Diablo 2: Resurrected and experienced many crashes before it. So those crashes with error codes are most likely throwing something off which then leads to BSOD.

I’m not even frustrated with this issue, I got New World and other games to play while this problem is waiting to be fixed somehow. All I can do now is contact Microsoft again and play other games, but I doubt that will lead to anything new.

I have done my part here. Peace!

It’s been 10 days since you last posted… has any of the recent patches helped at all?

I too am experiencing a very similar issue.
I’ve restored BIOS optimized defaults, installed the latest BIOS drivers.
Reformatted my computer. All Windows and Graphic drivers updated.
A brand new rebuild is producing the same blue-screening/instant reboots on my PC.
There are no Windows Event Viewer events that has any indication to the specific issue causing the blue screens.

My build is the following:
Asus TUF x570 w WIFI
AMD 5900x
GFX: 3080 TUF

Any and all other games I play do not cause any issues or reboots, it is only happening in DR2.

What’s odd is once I play in the game for about 10-15 minutes, I notice the audio begins to slur/slow for about 2-3 seconds, then I get hit with an instant reboot.

The game is unplayable in it’s current state for me and I’m not sure where else to go for troubleshooting. I’ll likely need to wait until the next patch update to see if this fixes my issue.

Hey!

Same Crushing Problems w blue screen here! And it only happens while running this game ;(
Any solutions?
I restored my PC, reinstall everything and it still happening, it`s definitely Diablo doing something.

Error says: VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR

Thanks!

perspective mode on in game options maybe ?

This is just like the response we got playing Hellgate London. Everyone that has Nvidia and played that game knows about the 1 frame per second bug. It can’t be their fault, noooo. My pc’s specs aren’t quite on the level as some of the ones mentioned but it’s still well above what is required and I run with NO sound and all the graphics at the bare minimum. I play many games with higher requirements than d2r and am unable to accept that this is on my end. How about we try to find out what exact processes are causing windows to freak out when there should be no problem. Especially this far after release. My pc is clean, dual SSDs, 16Gigs of ram (ddr4 single stick), an ok i5 (don’t judge me I was broke), and a decent 1060 nvidia card.

that made no sense… and it was a waste of my time to read partial of it.

Thank you for your esteemed input.

Edit I took the time to look at your other posts…

does your computer meet the requirements to run d2r? if you said yes, its not enough.

You can’t even come up with a coherent sentence thank you for adding your opinion to a topic you can’t offer feedback verifying or denying. Go argue with some other random.

yea my ethernet cord works and is in great shape.

you took the time, how nice of you, doesnt help those fix their internal problems.

for me, it was an entirely unrelated driver “bddci.sys” causing the BSOD while playing D2R. My computer would only BSOD while playing D2R, nothing else, and I’ve had 0 issues since I deleted that particular driver. Idk how D2R interacts with this driver, but it was clearly not working out.

Are You sure You have all DirectX libraries installed? same goes for VC++ libraries…

for VC++ I’m talking about the latest VC++ 2022 x64 ones they are available from like september, and it occoured to me they are required to run the game. they usually don’t come in a form of windows update themselves, and one has to get them either from M$ downlad centers or get a handy dandy combo pack with all of them… i recommend “VC++ All in One” from techpowerup. they each have a custom name, and there is a handy dandy batch file to install them all at once. beyond that it could only be some malware, hardware or software issue, but it takes a glass ball and a witch to guess correctly what it is…

Well there is a problem here diablo 2 résurrection was fine even with my necro bluescreens would be rare …but now since thé Last update (im on ps4 nothing New i only play d2r) IN THE UBERS i bluescreen with sorceress bear … paly … palybear … also the druids …every ubers ive done since the update 50%players and more bluescreened constantly in it we wasted 3 4 hours in each ive played since thé release…wasnt like that …ive played for years on the original…it was not an issue …something happened in the Last update …and it messed up bad …try finding whats wrong… because right by thé portal with no active skills no mobs one footstep was bluescreening me i eventualy restaured data base and bluescreened again after …15 bluescreen later i gave up…for the 3 last ubers …id really appreciate that this issue be adressed … its a solide one

I’ve seen some folks with new RTX 30xx cards claim they have BSOD and reboot issues… Pleease make sure You have PSU that is efficient enaugh to provide the nessecary peak power to the cards you are using PSU such as those should be rated around 1kW of power, this is especuially true if you want to play on High or Ultra (if any) graphical settings.

If PSU that you are using does not provide nessecary power to CPU and GPU it tends to overheat. If it overheats enaugh it shuts down, or if it doesn’t even have the overheating security measures, the voltage on it will drop so low that PC will think it’s in unpowered state, and reboot ( If the calculation load will be too much to handle by the PSU power output). all of the above can seriously, and permanently damage your pc components, so i advise not to trifle with underestimating this game’s power needs, and buy a proper PSU.

I’m having the same problem with Ryzen 5600x and Nvidia RTX 3070ti.
When joining games or switching waypoints, or exiting map, my computer shuts down all out of the sudden.

I did all kind of stress tests, benchmarks, other games. its only happening with diablo 2 ressurected.

Any ideas?

I’ve already capped frames to 60 and did all checks. Its something weird going on with this game. all driver up2date.

Also no overheating or overclocking.

I was having the same problem with my RTX2080Ti started happening when I updated my Nvidia drivers to 511.79, was hard crashing 4-8 times a day playing d2r, I reinstalled the drivers I had been using before 472.12 and the issue went away, been playing using the 472.12 for 4-5 days without a crash, make of that what you will it fixed my issue.
Good luck !

+1 on this issue and agree software can cause BSOD as reported in the BSOD err itself (3rd party applications)…

This is likely a settings related issue, most likely DLSS.

Yea just purchased d2 r and d3 because it was on sale. I can definitely confirm that there is something wrong with d2, my brother and I both have this issue and our pc specs crush the requirements to run the game. We’re both getting bsod which is totally new for us both and considering my pc is a brand new 2022, and we don’t have this issue in World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, warhammer, vermintide, or any of my hundreds of steam games, I’d say I have the problem narrowed down to D2R. we can’t play d2r for more than 5 mins at a time without getting BSOD, Diablo 3 and all of its DLCS are working as intended though.

Have the same problem, the game is running for 30-120min and then it crasches the System by a crit Grafic error…
D3, SC2, WOW is running very well but only D2r caused that Problem…
