Crashing all the time

ever since the last update it seems, this game just crashes all the time, I can play it for maybe 30 minutes before it crashes to desktop, no error, nothing. I have not changed anything on my computer or changed drivers etc. nothing…

The game was crashing like this on release to desktop with a message window asking me to send the error to Blizzard. Then an update was released and the crashing stopped completely. Now sinc the last update it has started up again. This is getting frustrating. Might cut my losses and look at playing something else.

This is happening for many many users and from research I have done it seems like it might be related to RTX graphics cards. People were crashing at several specific places (Shenk death) with an RTX card and having the lighting turned to the max option. Turning that option down one prevents the crash. There are many reports just like that for people with RTX cards. I am not sure whats going on but its frustrating to grind through an area and getting ready to kill the boss, then you are kicked.

Is there an ETA on when this game is going to be stable at all?

UPDATE: Tried logging in to play tonight and two crashes in a row right to desktop, no error after about 30 minutes each. Checked windows event viewer/reliability tools and there is nothing for my hardware or software causing it.

Uninstalled and onto the next game on my massive backlog, was fun while it worked a little.

I am having the same issue, very annoying. Very … un-blizzard like. Is there a way to get your money back. I paid $40 for a game that works, not this crap.

Nope sorry according to Blizzard if you play their game for more than 2 hours you are committing to your purchase and you know exactly what to expect from the game with that 2 hour experience.

Game keeps crashing on xbox to . Internet works fine until i start playing d2.

I have tried everything and these crashes have nothing to do with my computer at all. I have uninstalled/re-installed, updated all BIOS drivers, video drivers, every driver you can update. I even installed Windows 11 and updated all drivers accordingly. Same thing crash to desktop with an error asking to send to Blizzard after 23 minutes of play. I have tried turning off certain settings, HDR, windowed mode, literally every setting and nothing stops this constant crashing.

Try down clocking your GPU speed. My ASUS ROG RTX 2070 factory overclock was making the game unstable to the point where 3 weeks ago, it would crash at the flaming d2 logo every single time. Game was ok up until then so I suspect one of the updates changed something. Something interesting that I noticed leads me to believe this may fix issues that many people are having.

My GPU is factory overclocked from 1620 MHz to 1820MHz and further boosts itself to 1920MHz. I backed off my GPU and mem 50MHz at a time until I could get passed the flaming DII logo. Once the game loaded, I played until it crashed. I think it was -150MHz when the game finally loaded for me. At -150MHz the game crashed within 5 minutes. At -200 MHz, It lasted around 15 minutes. At -250 MHz, It lasted almost an hour. At -300MHz, I played for over 4 hours without so much as a hiccup.

Fyi, I had the occasional crash from launch up until Oct 23 when the game started crashing 100% of the time at the flaming DII logo. I believe there was a game update on Oct 22? Could have been a changed that turned out to be the straw that broke the camels back.

I’ve had similar issues as well. I opened up task manager to see how much strain my GPU was under while playing. The “3D” bar stays relatively low [around 0%], then out of nowhere the game crashes. There are 3 spikes of 100% when the displays can start displaying again. I use a ‘NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070’. The game worked fine until yesterday, so I assume it has something to do with the update. If I could upload images [I dont know how], I would post the usage chart.

Most blizzard games crash. I watch my battle.net app go blank, then restart. I erased my cache, deleted the app, reinstalled it, today. Reloaded D2. Stopped playing D# because of multiple crashes today and can’t play D2 because of multiple crashes. I quit WoW for the same reason. Did they stop paying the techs so they could pay the lawyers?

Same. Downloaded Resurrected looking forward to playing it with a friend who had never played the original. I feel like I’ve been duped. No reply from tech support, no real explanation, just a bunch of crap trying to blame it on hardware issues. It played fine before.

First, I lost my online characters… now I can’t even play at all.

I was able to fix my immediate problems by going to

Options → Display → Framerate Cap. Slide that bad boy all the way to the right. Should say “0”

Then in

Options → Graphics → Framerate Target. I put it to 25 [because base game runs at 25fps]

I have all other graphics settings on the lowest possible. It has seemed to fix my issue, for now. Although, I will admit that the game does not look as pretty this way. Which doesn’t bother me so much.

this game is unplayable with my setup. I’m going to try it on a SSD

Hello All,

Try to go to your bios and set your CPU voltage to AUTO or higher( to where you can run the game to stable). For some reason there are moments in the game where it just draw so much power then goes back down.

Hopefully this will help you all from avoiding a hard crash(PC Shutdown).

Happy Gaming!!@!

Same problem with etc 1070, cannot find the way to fix it yet

hello i found file blz-log.txt in the file exacly when game crashed there is a info:

Yea. You can easily counter their refund policy by evidencing that these issues existed at the point of purchase, which makes them liable for selling you defective goods. I’m not sure where you’re based, but there should be a law on this, as there is a law on that here where I live. Only way for you to not get a refund is if Blizzard can make a case that their refund policy is above the law.

Dear all,
played for 20 years diablo 2. Old game was in last years stable for me. In D2R i encounter problems.

a) Have regular disconnects with an error message, e.g. 4552C321-1373-40BF-8C9C-567057718120 . These crashes seem to work as intended as i just exit the game and have to relog in (appears in 8 hours approx. 4 times). These are just annoying.
b) There is a second form of crash. I crash in a game and it seems like ive a timeout. I end in character selection screen (single player) after timeout, and after i switch to multiplayer screen i see my hardcore character (not dead). I log into chat and rejoin the same game - i get another timeout. Than the character is displayed as a ghost and dead. This happened now often (3 times 4 days) and apparently i cannot continue to play the game.

I love the game but seriously i need help.

I found some logs; the end of those logs seem to be the moment where i died. Ive a 3080 RTX(NVIDIA), Win 10, and a 11900 Intel processor if that helps. PC is a desktop. 32 GB ram - not ultimatively best pc but sound enough i found to meet min. requirements.
