Right?! I sometimes am able to join people, but they feel like bots, nobody can talk to eachother… No way to convey what you want to trade for…

This is literally the worst… and I mean worst decision making to a problem. I wonder who is behind it.
I wonder if the devs internally think something like:
“What the hell did I just produce” or
“My superior must be totally out of touch if he wants me to build this lobby”
Can’t anyone from their company actually sit down and play the game on a console for 30 minutes multiplayer?
I am not trying to down play how much work that lobby needed to make it work but the problem is someone during the production needed to just tell a superior how this would backfire. I simply don’t understand.

I quit playing online cause of the whole situation. I will probably stick with single player until they fix it.

Right!? As soon as a player joins your game, you’re confronted with a HUGE problem. Neither of you can even say hi!!
Totally broken, I guarantee nobody over there has played this. There’s no way they’d be okay with it
There are better online console games out there that actually use a KEYBOARD. Time to move on folks.
