Another buff for the Amazon that I hope the developers consider for 2.5 is to look at Impale. This skill should benefit from critical strike and deadly strike. It seems arbitrary this single-target skill is unable to crit, which is apart of the Amazon’s repertoire.
Looking at the Assassin, I hope the developers consider the following buffs in 2.5:
- Martial Arts - charge-up skill duration increased to 120 seconds from 15 seconds (helps with pvp) and remove next-hit delay caused by some abilities
- Weapon Block - works when running
- Blade Shield - increase weapon damage to 100% from 75% and no longer uses weapon durability
As one of the ~4 Dragon Claw players in the world, please, for the love of all that is holy, please add a new default grunt for Dragon Claw and make the “Haya, Aaay, and Aaah!” rare random sounds for the skills on critical stikes that deal lethal damage only…
I think 120 seconds would be far too long for charges to last, there is an element of tactics regarding MA charges that I think should be preserved. I think a small bump up to 20-25 seconds could be fair though.
The NextDelay issues definitely need addressed regarding skills like Claws of Thunder and Phoenix Strike. Hopefully they don’t overlook it.
- Weapon Block - works when running
As long as it follows the usual 1/3 block rule when running, I don’t see why not. It could have ramifications for PvP though which should be kept in mind.
- Blade Shield - increase weapon damage to 100% from 75% and no longer uses weapon durability
I don’t think the damage buff is needed seeing as it was already tripled from 25% to 75% in 2.4, the durability I agree with though as Blade Shield is designed to be used in tandem with Blade Fury and they don’t mesh well if BS will break your eth weapon that you use for BF.
I dont’ personally pvp as an Assassin, but seen charge ups unusable for pvp. You’re basically forced to use basic attacks to charge while being hammered. I was thinking a longer duration would help alleviate this issue.
Agreed, and should have noted so. When running, the % Chance to Block would be reduced to 1/3, reducing cap to 25%.
I’m curious why you wouldn’t want bonus to FRW with Lycanthropy? This change seems very thematic with a werewolf.
thought it already add 1% base per lvl(just rechecked recently while making sure i had nothing mistaken in my other threadh which i just created)
basicly…this would be a memory failure on my part…although didn’t they had that pre-remaster ?
anyway…+1% per hard point would be acceptable(after realizing my memory was screwed XD)…
btw…guessing you replyed after seeing my new thread ? and wanted to know why i didn’t list it in it ?..its your own suggestion so it should belong in your thread
The Frenzy barb with Taunt maxed doesn’t require Battle Orders or Shout to be used, even on /p8. The character clears Chaos no problem without BO.
Bash and Double Swing both maxed can easily be used together to fly through hell.
Grim Ward is an awesome skill for whirlwind barbarians dealing with multiple unique monsters at once as it keeps all the minions away while smashing down the bosses - no need to stop whirlwinding. It’s excellent in the pit lvl 2 and in the wsks.
I’m speaking as a player who doesn’t buy godly gear on jsp or use hero editor on single player, but actually plays the game.
I’ve always thought adding FRW to Lycanthropy is both a thematic change and supports the playstyle of hit-and-run tactics of the Rabies Werewolf.
Yeah I think adding FRW to Lycanthropy would make sense both thematically and for gameplay, beastforms should naturally be faster and it’d help shifters with their rather poor mobility. Werewolves at least have Feral Rage but werebears have nothing.
I don’t think it needs to be limited to hard points only though.
Based on your feedback DarkMaster, I updated the proposed balance changes to Assassin as follows:
Assassin
- Martial Arts - charge-up skill duration doubled to 30 seconds from 15 seconds (helps with pvp) and remove next-hit delay caused by some abilities, such as Claws of Thunder and Phoenix Strike
- Weapon Block - works when running (chance to block reduced to 1/3, reducing cap to 25%)
- Blade Shield - no longer uses weapon durability. Skill designed to be used in tandem with Blade Fury, doesn’t mesh well due to risk of breaking Eth weapon
I’m curious if the developers will take similar bold moves in terms of class balance changes for 2.5 that was done in 2.4.
I wonder if the reduced range for Cold Arrow is a bug that has persisted in the game and affects both Amazon and Act 1 Cold Rogue.
Why no mention of removing the cooldown of Cloak of Shadows? It’s literally Dim vision with a fixed range and a minor defense boost/reduction. There’s zero reason the cooldown needs to equal the skill level in seconds.
Also, add (item based) piercing to blade fury, and attack rating % to Blade Sentry to help with mobs.
I agree the CD should not equal the skill level in seconds as that incentivizes a 1-point wonder. Instead of removing CD for Cloak of Shadows altogether, how about making it a static value of 10 sec? This would incentivize leveling skill to extend duration. Just asking for your thoughts?
Cloak is super useful in PvM, but doesn’t blind elite or unique mobs for obvious balance reasons, and that’s just fine. So even at 10 seconds, that can feel like an eternity when you clear your surroundings and you’re waiting for the remaining cooldown to wear off before venturing into the next screen. It’s much more effective with trappers, since they can keep their distance, but I’ve been playing with both a Phoenix strike sin and a bladesin and it feels like a crucial part of just staying alive against some diverse mobs when playing the game naturally/untwinked.
Plus it feels partially useless in PvP, since obviously the blind doesn’t work, but more importantly, if you use it too early with your target too far away, you can’t take advantage of the minor defense reduction they receive and you likely lost that opportunity as it’s now do or die.
It doesn’t seem gamebreaking to just not have a cooldown , honestly. Any change would be more welcome than no change, though.
Agreed and updated OP to propose removing CD from Cloak of Shadows. Sounds like a great change to Assassin.
Double swing is in a good spot. However, I will have to disagree with you on Bash. Bash sucks as a combat skill and needs improvement.
Increasing charge up duration to 30 seconds isn’t really going to help pvp. The problem is getting the charges up before getting stomped in the first place. For charge ups to actually work in pvp they need the “always hit” property and the finishers should revert to require ar when charged. I think that’s still quite fair since smite and CS always hit and release the dmg instantly while it takes time to charge up before you can do any dmg.
I still think Hydra should do fire damage per second around where it is spawned.
Would make it great in tunnel rooms.
Thanks,
