Like crushing blow . Make it more like static field , after x amount of health its not affective.
Static field. Should be very limited range.
I think teleport on enigma should come with a cooldown and not compare to a sorcs teleport. 3-5 seconds.
All the paladin auras on every piece of gear, half the level , id say remove completely.
CtA limit to +1 to BO or remove period.
Any necro curse should be a very low level .
Any gear with fade , or BoS , should again be level 1 or half it’s current level.
Basically anything that takes away from class envy, and wanting to group with said class , lets give it back to that class.
As well as making % damage abilities less desirable . This could include corpse explode , like death sentry has a more acceptable version. Corpse explode at 30-60% physical and fire , with amp thats 60-120% physical plus infinity makes it 45-90% fire damage or so … pretty over powered by the numbers. So alone the physical damage is enough to consistently kill, the fire is over kill.
I don’t get how these suggestions add to the fun. I agree corpse explosion is OP though, there’s a funny meme posted on Reddit showing necro’s illusion of choice between bone Necro or summon Necro, with all roads leading to corpse explosion.
True, however it does seem like a suggestion to nerf every other class but the sorc. In my book i would like to see a cooldown on teleport, but that includes the sorcs native teleport skill. A one sec cooldown would be more than enough to make teleport the utility skill it was meant to be instead of the 200 fcr, skip all content, must have skill it is now. No other skill dumbed down the game like 200 fcr teleport. So back to the drawing board and this one belongs in the ====>
You’re basically calling for a global nerf to players, and that will go over well with no one. The issue isn’t that there are items that give access to other classes’ abilities, it’s that there are currently more downsides than advantages to playing in a group, so no one truly plays multi-player except for maybe Baal runs. A better idea would be to implement systems that encourage multi-player (of a real variety, not split farm nonsense) while bringing up the performance of weak or underused abilities. If needed, they can always do a numbers pass on enemies’ HP or throw around Immune to Magic more generously if there are still extreme over-performers.
Whether you like it or not, OP posted very reasonable nerfs.
Teleport skipping whole game, every Necro using Corpse Explosion, Runewords like Paladin is better using auras from them than his own skill tree, the best aspects of Barb given to everyone else while he remains the worst class.
If those nerfs should be implemented I’m not sure and ye it could make people angry because of nostalgia but these examples being overpowered are just facts.
Encourage team work. Encourage building strategic groups.
Diablo didnt used to be destroy everything . There used to be a challenge to it.
I don’t believe, unless you are deck out and skilled , most builds with gear should be able to solo player 8 content.
I don’t believe the hardest content should be restricted to certain classes do to the ease to stack resist on them.
I like the old school Diablo 2 better , when immunities were just presented , when iron maiden was scary .
I am also a huge fan of class envy. I think every class should look at another and go, man I wish I could do that , but I can do this !!
I also think 90+ should be more of achievement as well , as it was before.
Also to add, someone said i left sorc alone, I did , since enigma I dont play sorcerer. I Have their greatest utility on all classes now. And with meditation, their mana regen as well.
On the contrary, his suggestion seems like a nerf to all other classes BUT the sorc making her more of a “must start sorc” at ladder reset than ever before.
OP suggestion
Reasonable???.. How?.. This alone would be a huge setback for build diversity, putting a cd on every other chars ability to teleport without putting a cd on sorc teleport making her even more of a “must start sorc” ladder starter and BIS endgame farmer than she already is. The only reasonable solution would be putting a global cd on teleport, one sec is more than enough to make teleport the utility skill it was meant to be instead of the spammable, skip all content abomination it is now. With a 1 sec cooldown you can no longer avoid getting hit while teleporting, it will no longer be faster than a decent movement speed char and you will be forced to engage with the enviroment between casts.
Yes i know the old saying “Every Necro is a CE Necro”, however the alternatives to CE are just not there besides maybe the poison nova necro. I would like to see the day where the necro could be reasonable competitive with other classes without using CE however nerfing CE without providing a decent alternative is just a straight up nerf. On top of nerfing CE, OP also suggested nerfing all curses effectively making all the alternatives to CE even worse.
The reason this is a problem (if it is a problem) is due to the fact that you can only have one self-casted skill aura active at a time as a paladin and the fact that multiple items with the same aura stack. This allows the Paladin to run multiple high lvl auras (conviction, holy shock, holy fire, etc..). Im not sure if i think this is even a problem when i look at the power creep that some of the top tier picks received and the hammerdin is still the strongest, but an easy solution would be removing the ability to stack multiple of the same aura from items and only let the highest aura count, however i do think that balancing the skills themselves are a better solution to preserve some of the core mechanics that makes D2 so special and fun
I kind of agree, however he is still pretty good for what he does best (Travincal and horking comes to mind) and he still provides the best BO of any char + he is BIS team m8 for group farming heralds, which brings me to one of the few things where i might agree with OP
I dont mind this one, besides i rarely use CtA on any of my chars anyway and it is probably the last upgrade i would consider if i have completed all my other gear.
TLDR: i am not against nerfs but OP’s suggestions just fails to hit the mark, especially when leaving the already OP sorc untouched, besides teleport should have been given a global cooldown across the board decades ago (including the sorcs native teleport skill)
It kind of is already, Crushing blow has diminishing returns since its ability to reduce an enemys Hp by a set percentage is based on the monsters current Hp and not its maximum Hp. The % hp reduced can be easily adjusted, i just dont see the reason to remove one of the few aspects of the game where melee chars actually outperforms casters. There is nothing wrong with class distinction in an arpg, we dont need to homogenize every aspect of the game
Ok maybe I didn’t take details into consideration and you have some good points too. I definitely agree on Teleport part that it would be bad to only nerf Enigma and leaving Sorc as it is.
I’m curious why you think everyone plays the game exactly the same way, and thus nerfing all these skills would lead to more engaging gameplay, or more team play; many people prefer to play alone, paying customers mind you, and not everyone plays the game in the “gogogogo Nth degree” mindset…and here is the fun part…if you don’t like teleport…don’t use it. Think aura runewords are OP? Don’t make em. I’ve been playing for a long time and even on my sorc, I rarely use teleport, except strategically. Now, if your followup is that players must use X to stay competitive, I will counter by saying this: D2 is not designed as a competition, save the one a player decides to create, and if your followup is that you get left behind economy-wise, I’d say that should have been the start of he discussion, and my response would be nerfs would not level the playing field-players with more time and more knowledge and/or bots will always be out in front, regardless of nerfs.
I want D2R to be difficult and challenging, both in leveling and in endgame farming, but not tedious, and I don’t want the devs to suck the fun out of the game for those who like to play at a certain level. D2 is not a monolith, and there needs to be a balance to satisfy all types of players.
OK, the ladder is a de facto competition, I must admit, but there isn’t really any prize beyond bragging rights, but hey if that’s your thing, go get em tiger!
Yeah, well unfortunately many people dont think about the implications of their proposals, thats how we ended up with things like Mosaic and the broken Warlock (ty to MrLlamaSC). The thing is meaningful balancing is not ez and must be carefully planned, specifically targeting the individual skills themselves and not just band-aid solutions like Mosaic or nerfing teleport on Enigma only but not the skill itself
So if i mentioned nerfs to , as i said, a class im unfamiliar with since enigma has been out, I havent touched sorcerer really. You’d be happy ?
Maybe instead of throwing a temper tantrum and saying everything is garbage , you say whats so over powered about a sorcerer?
No one said do away with CB , lol.
Lol mosaic a band aid solution? You took one of the strongest classes , and gave it an OP weapon . That was such a poor decision by someone who has no clue on what theyre doing.
Crushing blow is not the problem. Smite being unblockable and always hitting is the problem. Every other melee build clears bosses nowhere near as fast as smiters do for the simple fact that smite ignores AR and enemy block chance.
Doesn’t sin finishing moves always hit as long as you have a charge? Or is that no longer a thing?
If you can keep your merc alive with infinity-85% Armour helps alot.
The fact that paladins also have an imbalance on gear with shields. They had scepters , now 45 all resist at lvl 1 on a shield. Whos idea was that lol.
