AVX Issues / Game Launches, then Crashes on Older Processors (CPU)

I use PassMark sofware site to benchmark cpu and gpu.

100% correct. You detect instruction sets and run specification based on case. This was just poor planning. (Or excellent planning with benefits)

Putting my Blizz CS cosplay onā€¦ There has been no update in the last 20 hours. They are testing new builds throughout the week and will update the forum when something meaningful can be shared. Pinned posts in the General Forums from Pezradar indicate that this will need a PC update and quite a bit of Dev and QA work. I would put first reliable ETA for an AVX fix to be Friday in all reality - expect that this can be pushed further out with any additional setbacks. _? howā€™d i do? Kek

So, nothing new. At first they updated every like 50 comments, now its like every 2K comments. Seems to mean they donā€™t care anymore. Looks like they are gonna blame it on the computer and be done with it. Super sadā€¦
Iā€™ve already refunded but just wanting to play the game we all been waiting for so long for. Played the Beta and was super excited to play the actual game.
Will come back before end of day to see what they say. Donā€™t expect a true fix for a while.

Like how long would it take if a few people got put on the task of removing AVX or modifying it or Emulate it? Or if you had X amount of people working on it. It would probably go pretty quick. But probably have new issues come up everyone focuses on that one problem.

4669 post later, we still getting the same answer from day 1, i dont understand how someone like Pezradar got promoted, lying to our faces, saying this is not priority, saying that it wasnt working as intended, avx should not be there, then doing a complete 180 on that blaming US for it, like we have to kneel before him to play something we paid for

What i donā€™t understand is that the beta version was working well for everyone in both betas. Of course there was bugs to be fixed but it was working as i expected for those betas. By using AVX in the launch version they just cut out a lot of people and they are saying in a blue post ā€œwe want to try to ensure as many people as possible can playā€ wellā€¦ why using AVX in the first place?

As we are already screwed, Iā€™m starting to believe that they will first fix the problems the people who can actually play have and then, we will recieve our patch. I think they donā€™t want more people complaining about other bugs or crashes and we are here talking each other barking all day while they just ignore us.

Thank you blizz. Happy I cannot play DII, a 20 year old game with this very expensive machime. https://pasteboard.co/yPNZrpzc3JHR.jpg

10 year old machine btw

Lolā€¦definitively. I mean, the real question is how many time you could run it simultaneously without the AVX requirement?

Im slightly confused, My system supports AVX yet I still cannot play. I have a 2070 super and i7 9700k processor. Iā€™m wondering if itā€™s something elseā€¦ perhaps in my bios settings thats not letting me launch.

What I found is that if you go to appdata/Microsoft/windows/WER, you can actually see the game crashing events until september 24th, then, after the first patch I donā€™t get thoseā€¦
and if you go to the D2R folder and remove ā€œBlizzarderrorā€ the next time you launch the game you get the play/launching/playing back to play error again and then Bnet update files and you get ā€œBlizzarderrorā€ again.

What it does when you press start ?

i feel like this is our own D2R-Minigame here .

still waiting on a fix

It is an unfortunate fatal flaw that people in game development want to be optimistic about when things will happen. Itā€™s a hard lesson to learn for both game developers and optimistic gamers. Itā€™s why many game companies seem to have a policy of not communicating with gamers, why the majority of the teams never speak publicly, because they can set false expectations.

While it seems like this should have been an easy fix, since the beta versions worked, itā€™s likely that the beta versions were made well in advance, and the AVX enabling changes were related to too many other changes since. Betas are most often demos and while they may help fix some issues their primary goal is hype.

With Cyberpunk, people figured out a hex edit that would make AVX be bypassed pretty early on, and it was only officially addressed weeks later. But D2R has some serious DRM behind it so even if a hex edit was easy youā€™d need to do service emu as well even as a paying customer.

Just started this this morning. Worked fine. Liked it a lot. Had to quit while a lightning storm passed. Waited to start to see if the debugging would be finished. I see I have not waited long enough.
Ok, Iā€™ll try again in another week or two. Life is really too short for this stuff. It sure does feel like 1992 here today tho. BTW my machine is a brand new Dell XPS with top NVIDEA graphics card so blaming user computers (THAT is a sure sign of senility) cuts no ice. Will not ask for a refund. I can afford the loss much better than they will withstand the bad Karma.
