I have the same problem. It’s new for me since the last patch, too.
Just got the game, have the same problem.
Tried rebooting, reinstalling, checking volume, changing output
No success.

i had to reinstall Realtek HD Audio Driver R2.82 and I have sound again
Same problem here. The audio was working fine before the holidays. Nothing changed in my setup, only moved the PC around so some USB port might have been changed.
Same problem, since installation (some days ago).
I had the same issue with my sennheiser. I updated the drivers an it worked again. Very strange.
This is still an issue for me.
resolved for me. I had Sonic Studio installed and open. I just closed it and now the audio works.

I am having the same error message appear when I load D2 Resurrected from Blizzard. I have reinstalled the game, and also checked that my audio drivers are updated etc - but still get this message. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Had the problem yesterday after i connected my headphones. For me it helped to reset the audio settings in Windows 11:
Settings → System → Sound → Volume mixer → Click on Reset, next to "Reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to the recommended defaults "
