Appreciate it!
Yeah I get what you’re saying but this means there’s going to be some kind of weird security flaw… they did say it’s still 70% D2 running under the hood… which means maybe the same exploits?
I mean honestly I don’t care either way, just throwing it out there.
Ya the stuff under the hood is diablo 2 but they have the source files and stated they will move certain information to be hidden, and reveal other information users can use for mods. Whether or not they can solve the duping methods, that’s an unknown unknown, but maphack relies on grabbing information from sources they plan to make harder to read.
I don’t doubt what you’re saying, but I don’t underestimate hackers either… LOL
There’s gonna be a maphack / bots for this game… I know it.
“Yes! Keep your old save files,” said Cederquist. “Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work, so we kind of shoved it in, and it worked! So yes, your local singleplayer save files will carry over.”
That’s what I thought. Singleplayer will be accessible but Bnet characters will not carry over. Glad I wasn’t going crazy! hahaha
Yup I agree
but how hard/effort do these guys need to put into it, and therefore how secure do they want to keep it from getting out to everyone… always be hacking but if you can limit it to a small few, that’s the best I can hope for
Yeah the point I was trying to make was that if old save files work, maybe the code is still somewhat the same right? So that means you can edit a character with hero editor on an old save, import it to D2R and now you have hacked items offline?
I mean, it doesn’t really make much of a difference to anything but with that in mind, bots / maphacks are gonna make a comeback… I can feel it, knowing that information.
I’m not against using a map hack, just FYI. LOL It should just be integrated in to the game at this point because everyone who’s anyone used map hack to make their runs the most time efficient.
Ohh okay it just needs to read a save file, no sign of what state the software was in, whether or not they converted it somehow, or will remove the way they used to read it but keep a version just to read those types of files but rely on a new save system… more unknown unknowns but I would guarantee the engines rebuilt.
Like you say though depends on how well hackers sniff it out, but being on battle.net and on global servers it had to be changed quite a bit to get that going.
Hoping they thoroughly test these scenarios however I would anticipate most public games to be something like
3-4 sorcs
2-3 paladins
1-2 Amazon necro assassin druid
If you really want to break the game try 8 necro summoners with FCR and spam poison nova.
I’ve never played online and doubt I ever will.
Don’t forget to add mercs and spam bonewalls
Eh, game engines have come a LONG way since then. Ever played Grim Dawn? I can have 20-something minions on the screen fighting 4 times as many enemies, and no lag. And frankly, I think DII Resurrected’s engine won’t be as robust as even Diablo III’s was.
Don’t worry, that many people will almost never play together due to shared loot.
There will be a hot key for unfortunate people to switch back to 8-bit graphics.
