It was a patch to make the game more user interface friendly with handhelds. Microsoft and ASUS teamed up to make the ROG Ally, which is basically a handheld xBOX. Microsoft is on a mission to make all of their modern/remastered games compatible with it. Outside of that, yeah, it’s a nothingburger for new content and changes to gameplay.
If you are one that wants a consistent stream of changes/content, this is the wrong game to be looking for them. If “new” is what you want, find a new game to play.

The patch was a precursor to acts 6-10. It will feature 4 new classes and a plethora of new uniques and fixes to current sets. It has a whip wielding character similar to belmont from the Castlevania series. The acts are themed around finishing off the hordes that plague sanctuary. But, the cultists and vampires are convening to summon lilith.
Or, they don’t care about this game or it’s customers. One or the other.

May I suggest a third option that remnats of Vicarious Visions would love to continue working on it but Excel overlords forbid such actions.
