thats why we do have a option to trade!
Here’s my only fear, if high runes are ridiculously rare what will happen is you’ll have some rich guy dump $1000+ into his character and dominate the server, and nobody else will be able to compete because they’ll be grinding for months trying to find a couple high runes.
By having them more available, it allows everyone more of a chance to obtain them and makes it much harder to buy your way to domination with real money.
A lot of the runewords like Enigma/Infinity/CTA/grief/Last wish/etc were RIDICULOUSLY OP. Is it better to have a few rich people with all the best stuff dunking on everyone, or is it better to have the stuff more available?
are u for real?..sorry not going to waste more time for this nonsence…idea straight to trashcan
To give you an idea: you can farm countess runs, collect every rune dropping, upgrade those runes and you’ll have your runes.
And that will stop you from having fun while playing D2?
This is Diablo 2 and it have a story.Wait for Diablo 4 and you will have you coloured unicorn.
they haven’t changed since then so it won’t be a problem since it’ll be just like it was supposed to be.
if you “earned” them through botting , through trades (in an economy filled with bots) or through buying them in a tier website.
in my eyes , you didn’t earn them.
You can say “earn” if you got them yourself by killing a monster or opening a chest.
Which hopefully will be the “normal” thing now ( making getting through trade also something that you would actually “earn” as their prices will be as they should. (but i know it might not be the cases as sadly lowly botters will always be a thing probably)
also , something like that already exist , it’s the hell forge, sure you can’t get ber or jah in them , but you can still get pretty nice runes.
No. Then we’ll all have the most overpowered runewords in the game and what’s the point of that? These runewords are supposed to be nearly unattainable. That’s what makes them so incredibly epic when you finally do achieve it. Having a Grief or an ethereal BOTD should feel almost breath-takingly cool, not just “oh… they did some events and now have the best things ever. yawn”. Hard pass.
many times to torch isn’t for the class you want, or it’s a 10/10 assn … same with annis, sometimes you get a low roll and have to do it again, THAT’S JUST DIABLO. bye. stay bad.
To add to Geezer’s comment about never buying a blizzard product if reddit gets its way - I fully expect this to be “blizzards” last good product outside of maybe Overwatch 2 OR hearthstone(Classic WOTLK doesn’t really count as ‘new’), neither of which i have played(but considered, not the time for me to do so - don’t have the time for that).
If D2:R bends to all the people who only played D3/Reddit i’m just writing off the company at this point - someone who basically thought blizzard was the best gaming company from like 1998 to 2008(decline started with D3) and at that point of time it was considered a “no-brainer” that you would buy whatever they were going to sell. I know i’m not the only one. You really screwed up when you botched Wc3:Reforged and i didn’t buy it despite wanting to support the company and game. You have a lot of work to convince me that D4 won’t be bad and I already shot my shot with that reddit post about D2 itemization that got a lot of traction and a brevik comment. If it gets completely ignored by Blizz in D4 i’m probably out - but if D2:R remains very close to D2:LOD i’m way more likely to keep an open mind.
Alienating all the people that kept the games you are remastering alive is a huge gamble. I already have to convince people who would otherwise buy this game for sure that it won’t be bad because VV won’t be D3ifiying it. Again, we’re talking about a franchise when it first came out had literally all your items drop when you died(super punishing) and now have a bunch of people who played the third game(basically nothing substantively in common with 1-2 outside of name of main protagonist and the title - and the fact it was an arpg) who basically want to neuter pvp, personal loot, who expect ‘legendary’ items to drop every twenty minutes(they basically do in 3 - MF isn’t a thing even) and now want high runes dropping in events/drop rates increased in this game. Its a huge change in expectations made possible by D3, and definitely in the wrong direction for this game and in general for the franchise.
No, what will really happen is you’ll just have rich people spend a bunch of money on fully decked out characters, and they’ll crush you all while you can’t even afford an enigma to compete with them. With no dupes or bots an enigma alone might take months of dedicated farming to acquire, and it would probably go for a few hundred USD if you want to buy one. Making everything uber rare just ensures that rich people and jspers with a hoard of FG will have all the best stuff. I’d almost rather see everyone with good stuff, than have the top 1% own the game,
Enigma is supposed to take said months to acquire, casuals are propably never supposed to acquire it. Its how the game is structured, characters are completely playable in hell without the OP runewords. If you want teleport, do like everyone else who doesnt have enigma and use teleport staff or play sorceress. If you cant afford inifity for merc, dont play light sorc, or focus farming certain areas. Its so simple, the game is filled with choices. Not everyone is supposed to have everything.
I honestly don’t care. If people actually buy fully decked out characters then that’s their loss. They won’t have truly experienced the game. The fact that they will have spent actual money to miss the point of the game only ruins it for themselves, not for me. I’ll still earn the items I get by magic-finding and trading my way up, just as I did in the original game, and having them will be much sweeter as a result.
Don’t mind him, he’s not rich but willing to spend his money on runes.
Oh, no, my Annihilus or Hellfire Torch isn’t exactly what I wanted! Go cry about it. Trade it away for something if you don’t accept anything less than perfection. Nobody is stopping you, guy.
Nobody is talking about, nor making any assertion, that the qualities of the charms should not vary, so I’m not even sure why you’re bringing it up. The topic of discussion is was adding an event to make high-level runes more accessible. I don’t think they should add such an event. They should increase the drop rates. Story over. The end.
No? It’s a random selection of runes and gems. Random
Yeah… it’s a guaranteed runeword… Ancient’s Pledge… so you can figure out how to use runewords and have decent resists for nightmare…
So uh… Ohm isn’t even in Grief.
Grief is Eth Tir Lo Mal Ral… Lo is a high rune… and Mal is a reasonably hard to find middle rune.
That being said, I agree… HR’s aren’t too difficult to find currently. All you need is high clear speed on players 7.
High runes are supposed to be rare. Runewords are balanced (poorly) by being hard to get. If runewords are easy to get, everyone uses them because they are op and no uniques come close.
If someone wants to spend their entire salary on op gear, let them. Hopefully they will get banned for RWT.
New uber event with the ability to drop an item that rerolls the stats on items, turn that low roll runeword into something better, or that good one into something awful trying to get a perfect one.
