I think the point is that you are supposed to be able to use every class efficiently, but not every variant of every subclass. Like you’re supposed to use the elemental damage skills as well if you’re using bowa, but I gotta agree it’s supposed to be mostly a phys damage dealer. They should get the missile-type weapons to spawn eth, which should make sense because every other item in the game spawns eth, IMO it won’t be more OP than javs and sorcs and stuff in the endgame, but for sure we absolutely have to have that sort of boost if starting the game as a bowa. Will just add some history here and some assumptions as to why ranged weapons were not rebalanced correctly in the expansion, just to show why blizz ought to rework this: we know that ethereal items only became a thing in the expansion, and the assumption is that it was intended that there would be some items that would deal more damage but that would have limited use and would eventually have to be discarded, and the missile-type weapons were not given this because it would be deemed OP, because they were not based on durability. Fast forward a few patches into the expansion, and we have ethereal indestructible items, there is stuff like Grief which deal even more damage than the eth indestructibles, and they increased the find rate on Zod runes, etc. So ethereal items are permanent choices and not just limited use items now, so this means that ranged weapons will not be OP anymore if they were to spawn ethereal. So it should follow that ranged weapons should now spawn ethereal as well, but since they don’t require quantity replenish/self-rep/zod for permanent use, I suppose they should be made more inaccessible to balance it out, for example the usual spawn rate for ethereals is 1/20, so just change it to 1/50 or 1/70 or something like that just for this item type. Adding eth bows/xbows would just be fixing an oversight and not really a buff.
