Hi all,
LoD player here finding out D2R exists 20 years later!!!
Playing around with my new act 5 merc last night I found if I equip his Spirit Rune Sword in his “right” hand he only gets 10% life stolen per hit from Tal Rasha’s Death Mask… Move it to his “left” hand and life stolen per hit goes to 17% (10 from mask, 7 from sword).
I have screenshots but it appears I can’t attach them here. I can upload them somewhere with a link if necessary. He has a Plague Bearer in his off-hand as a heads-up, whether that will make any difference to someone testing this.
This isn’t a huge deal, just something I noticed… No other advanced stat seems to be “lost”, at least on his current setup, but I worry about other people and any future setups for Folcwald the Merc!!

This goes back to how D2 works and how even the new D2R advanced screen can only show one weapon at a time, basically.
So the deal is, certain stats like leach, crushing blow, deadly strike, chance to cast on hit/attack, etc. when on weapons only apply to the weapon that’s actually swinging.
The stats page shows the roll up for the entire character, but as if it’s only looking at main hand. So if you have something in your off hand, that doesn’t show up in the stats page. Now when you swap which hand which is in, that does show up since now it’s in your main hand.
So to your example, your merc is wearing Tal’s helm (10% leach), Plague Bearer (0% leach) and Spirit Runeword (7% leach). So since Tals is a helm, it is always applied. But Spirit’s leach is only applied when he lands a hit with Spirit, in which case he gets 10% from Tals and 7% from Spirit = 17%. So when Spirit is in main hand, the stats screen shows 17%. When he hits with Plague bearer, he’s only getting the leach from Tal’s, so it’s 10%, so when Plague Bearer is in main hand, the game is only showing you the stats you get when attacking with it, so it shows just the 10% from Tals.
If you threw on say, Boneflesh armor that has 5% life leach, then he’d get 15% with Plague Bearer and 22% with Spirit, since that’s armor that is always counted.
