Hello, i am considering if it is possible to pass through 3 act alone only with cold element. It is incredibly hard, because there are huge amount of monsters imune to cold and merc is death in a few seconds.
I don´t want to play with 2 elements, because i will lose huge amount of power in synergies.
Are you playing in a party from act3 hell or single ?
I played single all they way but I used two elements. My favorite choice is Orb+Firewall, deals with fire/cold immunes pretty easily. For both cold and fire immune enemies I used static field + merc.
pretty easy act3 + hell ? I don´t believe you. Merc must be dead also pretty soon. It very hard to find out decent gear for merc. What is your level Daelan ?
I was ~77 when I completed last act. Merc had Treachery and 10% life leech helm, which improved his survivability quit a bit.
Though I hate to say it. If your not familiar with bugging your merc out either - look into it.
I’ve been playing single element and outside of ancients in hell I worked my way through letting merc handle everything and using teleport to keep him out of danger when fade+LL wouldnt.
Just made it through act 3 with pure cold.
Used the merc quite a bit against the high council and to get into one of the temples. Must have resurrected him like 20 times. My equipment is pretty poop though as this sorc is my only high level character and my luck has been as bad as it gets (my sorc is level 78 and I’ve been farming hell andariel + mausoleum since level 60 -ish).
It wasn’t fun and I don’t recommend it unless you can get some better survivability drops for your merc, like life steal. It was frustrating and tedious, but now I get to farm Mephisto as well!
I am now farming lower kurast and ancient tunnels. I am level 81, but i have very mediocre gear and need to farm at least monarch. I need also some good gear for merc or i am not able to kill anything with cold immunity.
Second problem is flyer jungle underground levels, i think that i will need to teleport through.
ACT3 is very frustrating.
I had to respec to meteorb. Pure cold wasn’t working for me well at all, nothing would die in a timely manner, merc would get decimated. I made him a cheap insight just to get through as well.
I would honestly just respec, orb is powerful maxed with mastery, basic enemies should fall over to it. You could try cold with firewall. People say it does good damage with less points needed. I might Respec to that, meteor isn’t fun for me, even when leveling the delay on it made it difficult to kill anything that moved around a bit.
Hold on, merc can still be bugged in d2r?
Static Field + Merc + Telekinesis for 8 damage at a time baby. Watch out monsters. Just close your eyes and suck the sweet wind of death…
If you are playing Sorc just run Mephisto runs until you get a nice level 75 wep for your act 2 merc. Try using one with Lifesteal and use Tal’s helm. My merc rarely dies but he does have capped res. I share my mercs gear across three characters in hell and he can deal with mobs I cant kill.
For example, hammerdin cant beat one of the waves in Hell Baal but my merc can. It takes a couple of minutes but that is where I like to farm.
I can kill mephisto during several seconds, but i don´t like this huge level 2 durance of hate. You have to teleport quiet fast to skip all monsters.
I finished acts 4 and 5 yesterday with a buddy. Made it to cows and got a Monarch within 3 runs.
My suggestion? If you’re fine with playing with another player, get someone who is also having some difficulty and do the rest of hell together.
As soon as you get to hell cows, things get way easier to farm and less frustrating.
I wanted to solo everything from beginning to end, but chaos sanctuary and some parts of act 5 are pretty bad unless you get some better gear…
