8 new runewords for Season 3 Patch 2.6 announced (MacroBioBoi, Dbrunski, LuckyLuciano and Kano)

I’m not excited about these runewords. Metamorphosis is fine for druid I guess but it doesn’t solve the problem that all melee builds are subpar compared to casters.

I like runewords but the melee system is more what I’m hoping to see fixed in the next patch. Mainly melee really needs a form of AOE, improvements to defense when moving, and just more damage.

Agreed. It’s bad enough I have to swap weapons for call to arms buffs… I’m really not excited about this runeword especially since other melee builds will have to get items to transform into werebear and werewolf so they can compete.

Unless the patch notes coming out soon explain how they will help improve other melee builds I’m really sad for this patch.

Useless like the 80% of the runewords.
Runewords are in need only in Hell and uber.
Nobody needs middle quality runewords.

I would replace the barb/druid helm with a paladin. Because neither will even be close.

I wish they’d stop changing D2 into a shadow of its former self. I mean like… if you’re gonna CHANGE D2 might as well go all in and just add a new difficulty and new op runewords. It’s just boring stuff that I don’t really care to farm for. Why would I spend time farming for mediocre items when I already did it and have all I want on my non-ladder account. At least if they buff the difficulty and power creeped there’d be a new height to climb

Well Ned, Right Said Fred once wrote a song and in that song he exclaims how hes a model and does a little turn on the catwalk. Think of the catwalk prance while wearing nothing but a brand new runeword, too sexy indeed.

Lol more runewords for the garbage pile I don’t think the devs have a clue how to play their own game.

I do think Hustle (chest) could be interesting, since it’s the only chest that has 50 movement speed. So great cheap/mid runeword alternative to Stealth for none-casters.

nobody wil build the chest. the weapon’s burst of speed proc gives twie the amount of frw and ias. if you have the ruens and you are deciding on which one to make, you are going to make the weapon, cuz teh weapon’s proc is better than the entire armor and you can continue using smoke or treachery or another armor and have more stats for free

add +1 to Teleport and evety1 will make this chest

I feel like I might see it in cows a bit. Probably on zons who already speed around the map and insta-kill everything… and now they’ll be able to do 30 second clears!

I ain’t that mad about it though 'cause maybe I’ll be able to keep up now too.

I think the armor will be quite nice for my bowazon, but I do agree that it’s not worth it compared to the weapon.

I think it’d be good if they “separated” the two of them and make the armor a bit cheaper rune-wise, like instead of a Ko rune change it to a Dol rune, that way you can make it much earlier from from Nightmare Countess (or regular monsters/containers, I feel like I’ve seen quite a few Dols drop in my playthroughs :stuck_out_tongue:). The weapon would still cost a Ko rune so can’t be acquired until late Nightmare or Hell Countess.

i aggre, just delete those underwhelming never to look at ~ set, rares, uniqs
it reduce the data, used that space from reduce data for stacking rune, gems, qol upgrade.

[Mosaic] decent idea, won’t be good enough to make the martial arts work.
However you should fix Martial Arts by fixing Martial Arts, trying to fix skills by specific gear for them is the same trap D3 fell into (and on certain levels came into D2 with patch 1.10), you end up with having almost no gear choices left, thus the diversity dies and the game becomes stale.

[Metamorphosis] sigh, just sigh.
This is same as the previous concept, fix Shapeshift by fixing Shapeshift, especially attack speed which was ruined by these same dev’s for many shapers.
This will be very interesting for something like a Shockwave druid, but I don’t think that’s the one your trying to buff.
This won’t fix what’s been broken.

[Hustle] good for ladder start, it takes so long getting high enough level, not everyone can get lvl 80 on the first day yet.
Do think it’s nice it’s melee and movement speed focused.

The helmets are uninsprired, Bulwark is pretty decent, good for it’s level and might actually fit into a niche somewhere for a specific Barb or Druid build at higher level though doubt it would see much use there.
The others are for when you find your Sunder charm, until you have the gear to overcome the penalty without making real concessions.
All of these could possible find temporary use on merc’s as well.

In the end though I would say they still have no clue what to do with the game and you say “fixes” toward melee, problem is imo melee itself is not broken, power levels are, as soon as AoE can kill with 1 or 2 hits melee will always be left behind in most scenario’s.
Want to buff something so bad, buff the monsters, I mean since nerf are banned in Blizzard games it seems, just don’t do it at random please, that will lead to buffing damage later, then monster and we’ll end up trillions of damage in D2 as well.

The helms that MacroBioBoi announced is actual quite amazing for playthroughs, really cheap for high res when going through hell.

Anyone thought of a quick and efficient way to leverage hustler to proc on a bowzon? That’s an absolutely insane boost and would allow bowzon to reach better breakpoints without faith necessarily.

If it is allowed to roll in bows, that would help the bowazon massively by using it as a prebuff weapon swap.

Oh I would probably use one if I would do another SSF, though not even sure if I will again as imo they are ruining D2r.
But I think they are really uninspired and boring design.
As for power, I don’t need them to get through hell and see having the option as a minor bonus.
Mostly because as a caster I would likely still chose Lore unless I found something better and as melee it would be Bullwark.
I think their biggest potential is neutralizing the drawback sunder charm, except for Bullwark which is actually a nice melee helm especially for barbs, druids and mercs until you get the better stuff, especially if your doing SSF.

As far as I can find it’s locked on Sword, not sure why Sword and not other less common use melee weapons but seems another sword only runeword.
So it would mean grabbing a sword and start hacking (and missing) allot to get 216 seconds of goodness, so not really interesting for Amazon.
It being Sword only it’s mostly good for a Paladin and Barbarian.

The Fade from Treachery and BoS with Hustle will over-write each other though, so Hustle weapon + Treachery armor may be a frustrating combo.

I think if they also address the underlying issues that hinder martial arts (e.g. +% elemental damage not applying, NHD being a mess of a mechanic, maybe extend charge duration slightly) that Mosaic would be desirable but not the only weapon worth considering, especially depending on what you’re using your character for (general PvM, ubers, etc.).

This is an absolutely wild idea, but I also think it would be interesting if a finisher at charge level N had the effects of all charges N and less. So e.g. a Finisher with Phoenix Strike at charge level 3 would release all effects (but only spend 1 charge); at charge level 2 would release the charge 1 & 2 effects, and at charge level 1 just release the meteor. The damage math would absolutely need to be redone for some of them (e.g. Tiger Strike’s cumulative numbers should not surpass the current charge 3 numbers), but for the elemental strikes this would help add significant AOE capability.
