Four more character slots is better than zero more. Who knows, they may trickle more character slots as time goes on.
Work with what you have. It’s impossible to work with what you wish you had. Given enough playtime, the game will provide all of the items for you.
We don’t even have all of the patch notes yet. Sit tight, there might be more juicy news in store.

It was a sneak peek at the upcoming patch notes provided by some D2 streamers (MacroBioBoi and LuckyLuciano) on their YouTube channels.
Full patch notes will be sometime tomorrow, probably around 9-10 AM PST or so.
I have given any hope for official online D2R at this point. I am still glad we get more slots, but… 4 is better than zero, but still if they decided to increase it why not more? It can be easily double the amount we have now. This is 2023 and 1 char save has like 5kb, come on…
Big part of player base is going to d4 anyway so its not like they need to be scared of way too many people creating characters.

. I will be able to make a few ladder characters soon. This will be… my first D2R ladder as I filled up the 20 char slot limit several times over before the first ladder. Several times… as I had to delete countless characters .
I like how people are already asking for more before the 4 new ones are even implemented… That is the sort of interaction that caused the path of exile company to straight up stop communicating with their players.
Now, granted: I only ever played 1 game mode, so with no hardcore characters, no ladder characters, no “classic” characters, etc. I only needed 2 or 3 of each class (cause, you know… different skill trees/builds and all). I cannot imagine actually trying to do any of those other modes with only a 24 slot limit.

no no. we’ve been asking for more since we got capped. like heaps more. 4 is LESS than what’s already been asked for/needed
you mean. like how they do to us here. and then when they do give us updates, they are terrible and they don’t even tell us why they aren’t implementing things that people are begging for. everything this team does is awful. they treat the players like dirt.
they give us the patch notes. 2 days before a reset, and the notes are an absolute joke and tell us that they 1. have BARELY listened or read any suggestions. or 2. are too lazy to implement things that would actually be good for everyone.
and with no switch of how TZ work. i’m afraid d2:r is done. does anyone… i REPEAT. does ANYONE ENJOY THE RANDOM ZONES SWITCHING EVERY HOUR??? seriously… nobody i know enjoys it.
I think the general consensus from viewings months and months of similar topics and discussions is 50.
50 would allow for one toon in each mode:
7 xpac soft
7 xpac hard
5 Classic soft
5 Classic hard
That’s 24x2 for both ladder and non ladder, 48.
Round to 50 and call it a day. Not many people have a character in each mode for each season, but the 50 cap can let people make multiple characters like a Blizz sorc, nova sorc, fb sorc, etc.
It was a nice step to take to get to 24 with this patch, which allows exactly one of each possible toon, no mules or duplicates. Not enough, but a good start.

They really need to increase the slots to 50…I’d agree with that. Way more than 24, whatever the amount. I hate having to delete characters each time I want to play a new build from the ground up instead of just respec with an absolution token. Sucks the joy out of the game or caps it at 24, at least! Why? Smh.

Congratulations on being another one of the multiple people making their first post raising the remains of a long forgotten corpse from its final destination. I think its safe to say by now that any hope of seeing any changes to this old game is gone a long time ago and so are the people that have the knowledge and capability to do these changes

Are you aware that you are known as a ‘Karen’? Most people find your type despicable.
Anyways, Blizzard is in the wrong here as the character limit is extremely restrictive for no reason. People don’t want to delete their 99s over seasons. IIRC character files are ~9kb, so the stinginess is quite disgusting.

Whether i agree or not regarding the 24 char slots doesnt really matter, i was just pointing out the obvious. The topic is ancient and the days of Blizz actually making changes to this game are long gone and resurrecting old corpses doesnt change this.
The game is no longer profitable enough to justify any further development and with no monthly sub any hope if this changing in the future is non existing
That being said im not against having more slots nor do i care if we dont, but with the current devs at Blizz i really dislike the idea of them making changes at all. We dont need another D3/D4 abomination

You might be on to something here, it kind of does have the smell associated with his previous thread necro’s. I guess we will see, if we get swarmed by the usual Px zealots we know for sure. I mean for a guy with only 11 post he does seem to imply that he knows me, even the name smells like alt account
