2.5 update - Cain STILL not next to stash in Act 5 šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Actually your the one trying to stir things up! As usual ā€œHis goal is to stir up :poop: on the forums. The best place for him is on everyones ignore list.ā€ ā€œSee what I mean?ā€ Latest examples PS If I’m supposed to be on your ignore list how come your not?:man_facepalming:

I did answer your question. I gave you two specific reasons why it matters so much. If you don’t agree with those reasons and/or those reasons don’t matter to you, that is your prerogative, however it doesn’t mean that it isn’t an answer to your question. People are allowed to, and often do, have different things that they find are important. Perhaps there are bugs, missing features, quality of life improvements, or new changes that you would like to see added to the game that matter more to you than Cain’s placement. If that’s the case, cool, I encourage you to post those thoughts in a constructive way to promote them, rather than repeatedly asking ā€œBut why?ā€ on posts for ideas that you don’t find compelling.

Now he’s suddenly switched to playing the role of the victim.

A move right out of the troll handbook.

Well, all I can say to you is thanks…

Thanks for keeping this thread visible. I can see that you do indeed care about Cain being next to the stash in Act 5.

Thank you for your support.

Why does anyone even care about this?

To be honest, I rarely even use Cain in the first place, it’s frankly easier for me most of the time to just identify items myself.

This exact question was answered above in a previous post of mine.

I mean, that’s great, you care, but you need to stop acting as if you represent everyone.

Would it hurt anyone if they adjusted this? Probably not. Would it take much to do so? Not really. Does it really matter? Not to anyone who carries a tome of identify.

If I really want to speak to Cain in act 5, it is at worst, a two second inconvenience. I guess they could slip it in to some future patch but it’s a far, far cry from a significant issue.

I never once implied, acted like, or stated out right that I represent everyone. In fact, earlier when someone said that they didn’t care, I even encouraged them to post and promote the ideas that they find more important than Cain’s placement, and I offer you the same encouragement. I have no problem whatsoever with you having higher priority items on your list of things that you may want to see changed and/or added to D2R, if you even have such a list.

What I have done is defended the position of why I believe this to be an important change when someone has specifically asked or corrected false statements about the bug when I have seen them made. Since this is a thread about this issue, I don’t see how talking about the issue is such an offense to people.

As to your comment:

I carry a Tome of Identify and it still matters to me. My friends who play the game, also carry a Tome of Identify and it matters to them. While I can’t speak for everyone, I can say that your statement is false, simply based on the fact that people can, and do carry a Tome of Identify and still care about this issue.

It’s less actual offense and more ā€œI don’t really see the problem here,ā€ especially against all the bigger things they could fix and improve.

As to carrying a tome and still thinking it matters, it just comes across more as complaining for the sake of complaining. If you carry a tome and you identify items in the field, you don’t really have any need for cain outside of his quest dialogue, and it really isn’t putting anyone out to walk five paces to interact with him for that purpose.

Also, as to why anyone might be actually offended: It may come down to oversimplifying. I’m a regular player of two MMOs, and I often see requests that amount to something like ā€œlet me do XYZ thing from my in-game house.ā€ it leads to a slippery slope of ā€œJust make everything accessible from where you log in to the game and may as well just remove the overworld while you’re at it, since there’s no reason to walk anywhere.ā€

I completely agree there are other issues in the game that need to be addressed. I can even agree that some of those issues are more important. For example, the issue of file size that causes items to disappear from people’s inventory, is to me the #1 biggest issue in the game and should be the top priority for development and a fix. I would also argue that #2 is the chat and lobby system. The chat and lobby system is also an area of the game that is lacking functionality that D2 LOD 1.14d has that is not present in D2R. Much like the placement of Cain in Harrogath, this is unacceptable based on the promise made by VV to deliver all of that functionality. The thing with the chat and lobby system though is that it causes much more issues than Cain’s placement in Harrogath. However, it is a much harder/bigger problem to solve. That said, in my opinion, it should be the 2nd priority from a development standpoint. #3 on my list would be the graphical issue related to Fortitude/Chilling Armor that causes artifacting and game crashes. I would consider these the top 3 issues and priorities in the game and would like to see all of these issues fixed, even if it meant waiting on fixing Cain’s placement in Harrogath.

Didn’t that happen in Diablo 3? Lul

But I’m sure you’re trying to make some troll-y point or something

To this I say: In general I agree with you; things shouldn’t be made easy, just for the sake of being made easy. However, moving Cain to the waypoint/stash in Harrogath is not the reason for the change, nor is it ā€œcomplaining for the sake of complainingā€. It’s literally addressing a game defect because that is his correct location for online/multiplayer/Battle.net games in LOD 1.14d. It’s not a quality of life update request such as stackable gems or loot filter for example, which are QoL requests that have merits but are new to the game. This is a request to correct something that should have been included at launch and has been repeatedly reported since Alpha.

It did happen in D3. Not trolly, just an attempt at a time-line joke to play off your joke. He has dimentia because he was killed by what’s-her-butterfly-name in D3, even though D3 happens after D2, but D2R came out after D3, so his problems in D2R are because he is traumatized by what he knows will-have-not-yet happened in D3…? Time line issues are weird…LOL

I suppose approaching it from the context of technically being a bug, it is a bug. But aside from Cain not being in an optimal position, nothing else about it is malfunctioning. It’s most likely such a bottom priority issue because it isn’t an issue of incorrect functionality or crashes or something game breaking, the only conseuqence of the bug is a very, very slight inconvenience to the player.

The only time you ever actually need to interact with cain is to complete the rescue quest. So the disruption to the player is ALMOST nonexistent.

I’m not so much against t his being fixed as I am indifferent. There’s lots of other things the engineers could do with even 5 minutes of their time that are higher priority than this.

Actually that’s ā€˜been’ covered elsewhere again and again IE ā€œAgreed a Currency Tab Would Be An Awesome Addition! However all the other stuff? Not sure Buzzards Up to Making So Many Changes  Anymoreā€ And that’s a Hell of a Lot more important than whether Cain stay’s where he’s at or goes back to where he wasšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø I’m hoping the currency tab has a better chance as well…

The game could also change it so that only unique items are unidentified by default, it makes sense for those to be ā€œhiddenā€ for trading reasons, but blue items… so much time spent for those without any logical reason behind it.
