I ve been playing d2, on single player mode by 18 years. i tested all the patches but to my personal taste, and many friends too, the best version of Diablo LOD was 1.09. After taht the game changed dramatically and i really didnt enjoyed it, its about taste of course.
My only hope is to be able to play those characters i created so many years ago, (and i still play) on 1.09. I dont mind if it is only sp, but thats the diablo 2 experience i had and i really would like to have that option. Will it be posible? thanks.
You can most likely load them, but it will bring them up to the 1.14 patch. I dont think you will be able to run 1.09 in D2R on singleplayer.
Would be a cool feature for singleplayer tho.
How about VV/Blizzard does something cool and we can rotate versions from 1.09 to 1.14 through out the year

I think a 1.09 server with no resets would be absolutely amazing. Pop on there whenever you wanted, MF the ice caves a bit, do some cow runs…wow, that’d be great!
They could use a single player option to gauge interest in multiplayer realms for different versions of D2. That would be dope.
Don’t think other versions would be interesting, 1.09 is special because it is the latest “pre breaking change” patch. Every other version is inferior to either 1.09 or 1.14

Oh I see, then they should definitely make a 1.09 server for veteran players. IMO having having 8 players in one game makes the most sense for the cow level. 8 players huddling around baal’s minions is too lackluster.
Does anyone prefer baal runs over cow runs?
1.09 is the past, deal with it.
Unless ActiBlizz decides they need another money grab and introduce Diablo 2 Classic.
You will probably have to mod the game to revert it back to 1.09. Officially the game will launch on the same state as it is now on D2 servers.
Not even old battle net is not for 1.09. Why would they add old version which has several working dupe methods? And other exploits.
Depending on what they let us have access to you could potentially make a 1.09 mod for D2R pretty easily.
When we say 1.09, no one is really saying they actually dig up the old code and do a new overlay. It would likely have to be built with the current iteration, a mod of sorts, created by Blizzard.
Mind you, the likelihood of this is slim, but it needn’t be as complicated as you’re saying, dupe methods and such.
Why waste resources for mod few people will play? It would not be 1.09 as they would have to fix things again, which were already fixed and then its not 1.09 anymore…
This is like saying D2R won’t be 1.14 anymore…it’s close enough, lol.
By the way the 1.09 mod was quite popular for quite a while, Diablo09 or whatever it was called, I know lots of people that played it… and it wasn’t even an exact replica of what 1.09 was, there were prepatch rares, etc.
I don’t actually think you have any evidence to this. 1.09 was the most pupulous patch in Diablo2’s history…many returning players will remember this period in history, not 1.10+.
Of course it will not be 1.14 lol. Bug fixing new features, 1.15 will be actualy big patch.

Unsure about this. Maybe it’ll even have V1.14 in the corner…that’d be neat.

Contrary to prior patches 1.10 was a complete makeover of the game, that was running for years since LOD release in roughly constant state. Maybe even more kind of an small expension than just a patch.
So i don’t think it’s absurd to ask for 1.09 in the remaster, classic is also there. Doubt it will happen, but the request is valid. And i would totally play 1.09 alot

Because there could be a group of players that would enjoy it. I would have it as a balancing option in single player, use that to gauge interest. If its about Time spent verse money earned, it could sell more with more bonus features, even if they are single player only.
Why waste the resources is frankly, my main comment on ploot lol, so I get it in this regard. I think it wouldnt be much work (balancing skills and items back to a different patch point) compared to the net benefit of drawing in more players and more positive PR.
