Open Letter to Blizzard Regarding TCP/IP Support

Blizzard Statement

“TCP/IP support will not be available in the upcoming Beta or the final game,” Blizzard stated. “After careful deliberation, we will no longer be supporting this option as we identified potential security risks and are committed to safeguarding the player experience.”

Diablo 2 Resurrected could have avoided its terrible launch had it not removed TCP/IP Support even though they initially promised to do so.

This would have allowed people to play LAN with friends/family while waiting for Blizzard to get their act together and fix their servers.

As someone who works in the IT Industry and majored in computer networking, the entire internet is based off of TCP/IP so their was no “security risk” involved. If that was the case then it would be a risk to play on any game including official Blizzard Servers.

Trying to lie and misinform people is not cool at all Blizzard. I respect honesty. If you had simply come out and stated that you wanted to protect your initial launch period from piracy that would have been more respectable than simply lying.

Blizzard loves to lie apparently though. You lied by promising a feature, advertising it and then removing it. You lied again by your reasoning to remove it. How can people take the company seriously in regards to all the scandals going on currently inside your company when all you do is lie and damage your brand.

Now the funny thing here is, I see Diablo 2 Resurrected littered all over “piracy” websites so removing TCP/IP did nothing except snub your own fanbase and paying customers who are struggling to connect to your servers now and only hurts future sales.

Treat Your Players (and Employees) with respect like you once did Blizzard and maybe people might like you again.
