Nothing I Do Works For Installing Overwatch

My friend gifted me Overwatch and so I was excited to get to play, but nothing works. I have downloaded the Blizzard app to my computer, uninstalled, and reinstalled MULTIPLE times. I have tied using the repair and scan feature multiple times. I have tried customizing my download and I have even freed up way more space than what is needed on my laptop to run the game. However, every time I hit the install button, it says something is broken and adds a handful of useless files to the download destination. It then claims there is an update that prevents it from installing. When I try to do the update, it gives me the same error message. Then, when I try to repair and scan, it says the exact same error message once more. None of the tips on the website that allegedly fix the issue work and I have tried everything.

I’m in need of some direct support, if it can be offered. I really don’t want my friend to have wasted money on something that doesn’t work. The error code is BLZBNTAGT00000BB8 and once more, NONE of the recommended things on the support link work whatsoever for me, and I have tried everything. I just don’t know what else I can do to alleviate the problem, when the recommended things don’t work themselves.

Replies are heavily appreciated.

Does your system meet the minimum requirements for Overwatch?

Yeah, it does. I have Windows 10. My software runs both 64-bit and 82-bit. I have 200 something GB of free space on my hard drive. I have plenty of ram. Everything else on the list checks out as well. It just refuses to install. It adds a couple folders and like two files and then it breaks. I have also run plenty of other games just fine on it. Tell Me Why, Stardew Valley, the Sims 4, TellTale Batman, Yandere Simulator, and dozens of others that have came and gone from my system have worked just fine. At the moment, I only have two other games installed on my device right now, but they have similar requirements and they don’t give me any issues.

Just out of curiosity have you tried changing regions I had an issue with a gift from a friend in America and I’m in the uk I changed to americas server and it installed!

Hey there SiuJerkJai,

Sorry to hear about the problems with playing your gifted copy of Overwatch. It sounds like the game just doesn’t want to install and is giving the BLZBNTAGT00000BB8 error and basically looping itself with updates. The error is a general one that means files could not be written or downloaded. It can be caused by interfering programs, damaged files, permissions, or a connection problem. Based on your description, permissions and programs seem most likely.

If you have not already tried so, a new administrator account can help out with permission issues. This can help even if already using an admin account since it should reset many settings to defaults.

The other idea is to remove security temporarily. This is to ensure it’s not interfering, as disabling some does not actually stop some from doing such. This is only a temporary step and you’ll want to reinstall the same one or get a replacement after testing. Keep in mind a restart of the system is sometimes needed to fully remove such software.

If there’s still a problem and considering you’ve tried the basics already, a ticket would be best so a technical specialist can take a look for more specific causes that may be happening.

Hopefully this helps out!
