There has been this nasty rumor spread about me and people are using the report button system to have my account automatically flagged. I have done nothing wrong to break your terms and conditions. No warning..? No temporary suspension? Straight to an automatic permanent ban..? Please this ban is wrong and I believe I am being harassed by a group of online people that don’t want me playing the game. Go into the account and see, what have I done wrong..? I stream all of my games on twitch. I try to make content because I love this game. This happened to one of my other accounts before but I never got in contact with anybody.. Please help me, this ban is wrong. My accounts are being targeted from rumors that have no proof behind it. I am in need of serious assistance from blizzard with this issue. I stream with an account and they stream snipe me, getting people to spam report my accounts so the system automatically bans me. Can I please speak with someone about this issue I’ve been having? It’s been going on for months now and It’s slowly preventing me from being able to play the game I love playing and making content with.
Before this nonsense began, this account had zero penalties, not a warning, nothing. The previous bans are the other times I had to appeal for an unban due to this same wrongful reason.
This was the series of this account, banned → unbanned → banned → unbanned → banned again. Can I please stop being banned for nothing? I am the victim of online harassment with YOUR automated system. Why am I getting banned if I’ve done nothing wrong you may ask? Because that’s how Overwatch set up their report system. Enough reports toward one account = automatic ban.
The moment they find out its me (whichever account I’m on) they all spam report my account for ‘cheating’ due to some stupid rumor or the hatred for my personality or something I’m actually not sure why anymore.
I don’t know what I can do on my end anymore other than make people aware of what is happening to me to spread awareness about how players can abuse this system. I’m so desperate I even called Blizzard’s corporate office which got me nowhere as well. Blizzard’s support team is getting me absolutely nowhere and I don’t know what more I can do on my end. Some have suggested I just rebrand but why? I haven’t done anything wrong. Even if I did go the rebrand route, players can notice me strictly from my gameplay. I don’t use voice chat, I rarely type, I use different names, nothing. These streamers say, “Oh it’s Fear on an alt account” then proceed to report my account and not only that, they also tell their entire team to report me as well. I want to ignore all of this nonsense and move forward just playing the game but now the player base is making that impossible for me.
Not only this, but players are abusing this system to gain free sr due to the new ‘cheater compensation’ system they implemented. Nowhere does it say I was banned for cheating. I have screenshots and clips of all of this but it says “new users cant post links” so I can’t post them here.

had my main account i had owned since the release of origins banned permanently because i got spam reported for plugging my twitch, there’s a horrible mob mentality of “if we all report him he’ll get banned” and tilted overwatch players would love nothing more than to get someone they don’t like banned.
it’s a genuine issue that people who say “bad words” are banned more frequently than those who cheat.

I don’t think blizzard understands the severity of the situation. Not only can you and a group of people get anybody that you don’t like banned by spam reporting them enough, but there is an incentive to do so (cheater compensation once they get banned). Right now fear is the only one being targeted that we know of but once more people figure out this loophole anyone could be getting banned.

This has been a known issue for years but blizzard hasn’t done anything about itand letting a terrible bot make the decisions for them. They also just need to look into their anti cheat system because that should be the result for a ban not spam reports. if someone would get reported, the final action should be done and investitgated by a actual human being that knows of the game.

Yeah I’ve seen tons of clips of people spam reporting “fear117” without any proof of anything. These groups of players just hear something and run with it without any actual proof.
For him to go from banned to unbanned then banned to unbanned again because of the system is terrible. I’ve personally talked to hackers about how they actually don’t get banned (ever when they rage hack) because the system is based off # of reports and not if you are actually hacking. (As long as the hacker only rage hacks once a week and gets off the account he won’t get enough reports to get banned is what he told me).
So people like him not only feel comfortable full rage hacking knowing they have 10 accounts and will never catch a ban, but they also could care less if people know because this individual got away with it SOO MUCH that he told me all this without a sliver of worry.
On top of all of this the new “cheat sr refund system” is not the way to fix this. It inflates people’s sr severely and many people have hit rank that only very very good players or pros could hit because they just spam q into the hackers all day and after 2-3 weeks they collect their 200% free sr.
This completely destroys high elo games and since there was a patch this year that allowed new account to place high champion off of PLACEMENTS. That made it even worse.
This game still has people that are next level passionate about it even tho there’s no money, the competitive scene is dead and unbalanced compared to other games. Heros that are super low skill floor are always broken and the patches they give almost never shake up the meta in a meaningful way that might makes some of the more fun heros meta again.
One day there will be a company who will not only listen to all of these types of issues but works with their community to effectively solve them. I really hope that company is blizzard because they miss out and on how passionate people are and how much fixing issues like this with long term solutions would mean to the entire community.
I wanna thank blizzard for everything they’ve done so far but I also want to ask better of them. They have not only one of the most amazing games of all time, but also the entire community who wants to keep supporting them and continue to play but when issues like these arise and it takes years to fix them it’s very very disappointing.

This game has become famously unconventional for how it handles account suspensions. Go ahead and ban adults for typing swear words in chat. Go ahead and ban people for having some common headset setting app open while playing, mistaking it for something used to cheat in game. The problem lies when you have numerous people getting their accounts suspended, simply for the receiving of false reports from toxic, upset community members. Flagging the account for the verification of legitimacy by a Blizzard employee or another competent solution needs to be the ultimate procedure if you care about your community. This innocent before proven guilty phenomenon your consumers are experiencing is a plague on the reciprocation of loyalty and the playerbase is suffering. We demand nothing but the essential baseline user security we have not seen previously. Thank you, AmouranthMod out.

this is disappointing, this type of ban should not be automated, and blizzard support should be a much more human comprehensive interaction.
it’s my understanding that these specific circumstances may affect a minority of players, but the ban/support system itself needs to be overhauled, I know this is driving players away from the game.

That would explain a lot. People create fake rumor and throw a guy under the bus to get cheater compensation. I have already gotten like 150% in champ from this system and I’m not intentionally abusing it either. This report and compensation system NEEDS to go, free my boy fear117.

I didn’t spam but I think I’ve reported you for cheating before because of the accusations even though I didn’t have any reason to think you were cheating in my games. I’m sorry Fear.

These are all “known” streamers doing this, Some are even pro players in OWCS! This behavior should warrant a penalty on them but nothing happens!
When will Blizzard acknowledge and make this right for Fear? I’ve been a follower of his before he started streaming to Twitch, During the posts to r/DoomfistMains bro caught my attention for his high level Doomfist game play! If he was a partnered streamer or someone with a name like Aspen or Frogger you can bet this would be handled immediately! They’re no better than me or anyone of you!
I don’t wanna see him go, If he leaves they won. They’ll continue to do this nonsense to someone else and its not right!

Blizzard have not done a single thing regarding this abusive system. Even pro players were permanently banned for “Code of Conduct,” notably Proper, Quartz, Viol3t, etc. If someone does not like you, they simply tell their friends to report you every single match, and you’ll get banned. And support will most likely not do a single thing unless you are a well known player or have connections. But, how is that fair to the rest of us?

As someone that has fallen victim to this system, I believe it’s time that we genuinely make some changes to how this report system works. At the very least, do not make it based around the report amount within (x) matches or (y) time.
Blizzard, in what world should someone be able to say: “Report this person every match and they’ll get banned.”
Then, even after their ban is lifted, you still allow them to be banned just as easily as before?

A system that allows falsely reporting and REWARDING players who do it is a system that needs to change. A player may get automatically banned for Cheating based on reports from players without any other system checking whether the person was cheating or not. Refunding SR for doing it does nothing less than encouraging such behavior to be done even more.
The fact that this could be done now from the spectating system for top 500 games makes this whole situation even more chaotic.
This entire system requires a rehaul.
