Ads appear to, for some reason, sometimes, cause excessive CPU use.
Things running poorly, check task manager, CPU use from the launcher, 90%. Close the little square ads, with the almost invisible little x’s, and CPU use drops to the standard sub 1% levels.
This has happened previously with a cod or some other game ad that flashed in the side bar, and unexpected high CPU use.
Close the full screen popup ad, and and CPU use dropped to appropriate levels.
The launcher is made of hot garbage, ads using this much CPU is bizarre, but if others have the same issue, simply closing ads, seems to help.
