I got IP banned just because I accidentally pressed Alt + F4

Hello,

I recently purchased Diablo II and the Lord of Destruction expansion and have been enjoying them over the past few days. Everything was going well until I was playing with a few friends and accidentally pressed Alt (to show item names) and F4 (one of my custom skill hotkeys) at the same time.

That immediately closed the game, and ever since then I haven’t been able to log back in. After looking into it, I found out that the game has some restrictions for clients, including one that seems to penalize players for “leaving a game too quickly.”

It’s now been over 48 hours, and I still can’t log into the game using my original IP address, which is really frustrating. The only way I’ve been able to keep playing is by using my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot to get a different IP address.

I understand this is a very old game, and it feels like Blizzard has mostly moved on and doesn’t provide much support for it anymore. I just wanted to come here and vent a little.

The IP ban is usually around 2 weeks and if you try logging in during it, to test it, it extends the ban.

I assume you found the pinned thread on this forum with the details and Knowledge Base article link.

Unfortunately there has never been support for Diablo 2 (2000) in the way you are thinking. The only support for it has been patches, back when they did those. There is no Customer Support or anything - and never was.
