Heroes of the Hurricane : Blizzard meets Spellbreak

Apex is worn out. Cod Battle Royal is worn out. PUBG is all but almost done.

It may be time for a new type of Battle Royal style of game. Or, reintroduce an old style with a specific Blizzard flare. If there is an innovation to be made to this market, it would be a combination of Heroes of the Storm and Spell Break.

Blizzard acquired many of the staff members that made the game Spellbreak.
Spellbreak was a battle royal style game that had a lot of potential to become a great spell slinger style of game. Ultimately, the game did not succeed because of some unfortunate business decisions. The worst being accepting $$$ from Epic Games (who? FORTNITE. The MAJOR Battle Royal competition) to exclude them from steam. (That’s not supporting a business, that’s eliminating a competitor.) They were mislead by the promise of $$$ to finish their game and the ‘potential’ of fortnite players converting to Spellbreak. This was a buyout of the competition.

I played SpellBreak. It was great. The worst parts were the ques because of the sellout. (A lot of people hated supporting Fortnite, even though it was free to play.) This game began on steam in alpha and beta as well, so being bought out is even more obvious of what epic games intentions were.

BEYOND the politics, the gameplay had a lot of potential. Again, it was slowly/poorly managed to the players interests of the games. Developers wanted this game to be a Battle Royal, but it was a hybrid 3D MOBA. It took a year to get a domination gameplay style, but by that point it was already too late.

Imagine playing Fortnite, or a Third Person Perspective COD, as your favorite BLIZZARD heroes. Kael’Thas, Sylvanas, Kerrigan, Raynor, Lillith, Diablo, etc etc etc. Instead of picking up elemental gauntlets, you picked up a level tier gauntlet. You randomly got a talent from a HotS talent, but could change it mid game by eliminating a hero in ‘Battle Royal mode’

Battle Royal mode shouldn’t be the base mode either. It should be multiplayer. 6v6. or 3v3v3v3. or 12v12. or even 6v6v6 (WOULD BE THE WILDEST).

Balancing the classes would likely be the hardest, but if Marvel Rivals can do it, BLIZZARD CAN.
